What is used in between mating metal parts to seal oil, gasoline, vacuum, and pressure?

Gaskets , they can be made of many different materials from cork to silicon (ready formed or to make in place) some materials work better for different applications . like silicon doesn't do well with gasoline


In certian cases metal is used with good success as in piston rings, they seal all of your listed .What is used in between mating metal parts to seal oil, gasoline, vacuum, and pressure?

permatex is one of the many brand name sealants. They make sealants for every application.

Most of the time it is a paper or synthetic rubber gasket.
