Dodge man how can i fix a oil leak(front seal)?

1986 dodge ram 150 royale 318V8Dodge man how can i fix a oil leak(front seal)?
if your for sure its the front seal remove the cover and replace the cover gasket along with the seal,i always remove the cover so i can check the timing chain also, because being that far in to one is a lot of trouble, and it would be a shame to put it all back together again only to have it jump timing later on,good luck.Dodge man how can i fix a oil leak(front seal)?
Odds are its the front of the pan gasket leaking. Unless the main bearings are worn out letting the crank bounce around its rare for that seal to leak on a mopar engine.

To replace it log onto autozone.com and look up your van in the DIY pages. You'll find complete instructions with pictures.

Oil Leak in 2001 Chevy Tracker- Rear Main Seal and Oil Pan. What to do?

I have a 2001 Chevy Tracker. The car has been paid off for two years and has 106,000 miles on it.

My car had been smoking and my oil had been consistently low. I took it in to the Chevy dealership to get it checked out. The engine was saturated with burnt oil and it had to be cleaned off. They ran a diagnostic and put dye in my engine and determined that I have a severe oil leak coming from my rear main seal and oil pan. The mechanic said it would cost $1800 to fix (!!!). However, my father works in the car industry and found someone he knows who will fix it for $500.

Here is the catch... My father lives 1000 miles away. I will be moving back near him in August, though, and could get it fixed then.

My question: Do I keep filling up my oil and let it smoke for 3 months until I move and my dad's friend can fix it for cheap? Do I get another estimate? Do I pay the $1800? Do I go ahead and just buy a new car (it will have to make the 1000 mile drive in August).Oil Leak in 2001 Chevy Tracker- Rear Main Seal and Oil Pan. What to do?
You have several options..but driving it with the bad leak isnt one of them. I would check around for another estimate. I think you could do better. The repair is cheap compared to a new car payment..unless you were looking for a new car anyway..so I would say to check around and get it fixed and then make a more rational decision when not in need...besides you will ahve a hard time trading with the problems you have describedOil Leak in 2001 Chevy Tracker- Rear Main Seal and Oil Pan. What to do?
I have a 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I don't know if you have ever seen one but it looks like the exact same SUV you drive. My oil is leaking just like yours!!! If you find an answer would you let me know because 1800 is crazy and I don't have that kind of money just laying around.

I would get another estimate though. Then at least you can compare and know if they were trying to rip you off.
Also check with a Suzuki Side Kick repair shop. Suzuki makes the Chevy Tracker under license for Chevrolet.
BY ALL MEANS GET ANOTHER ESTIMATE 1800 DOLLARS IS RIDULICIOUS GET IT FIXED TO KEEP DRIVING IT WITH OIL LEAKS IS DAMAGING YOUR ENGINE
You need an engine job. Your oil control ring(s) is gone. If your engine is in good condition except oil is constantly leaking, your engine would not smoke.

  • Is a oil cooler gasket same as oil cooler seal?i have an oil leak onto my exhaust and i think its from there.?

    Same thing different terms

a gasket more proteins to a part that needs a gasket in between the 2 surfaces to seal that area.

a Seal is a piece that's used to plug an opening that something like a wheel bearing or a shaft will come through %26amp; it will keep grease to one side while the other end is exposed. Is a oil cooler gasket same as oil cooler seal?i have an oil leak onto my exhaust and i think its from there.?
I would say its the same thing, but the only way to tell is to look at the part. Generally the dealor (and some parts places) will have a ';blow apart'; diagram, and you can pick exactly what you need.

Do i need to drop oil pan to replace crank seal on 1990 montero??

i tore the motor all the way down to the crank shaft and cant get the housing loose from motor and i wonder if the housing drops into the oil pan do i need to drop the oil pan as well...need to know it wont hold oil and i have to get it fixed.....Do i need to drop oil pan to replace crank seal on 1990 montero??
to replace the rear crank seal on this vehicle, you don't need to pull the oil pan. the trans and flywheel need to be pulled for access to the round rear crank seal. good luck, not a fun job

Blew the oil pan seal on my 1990 f150. straight six?

What should i do. otherwise, the truck is in perfect condition. what are my options at this point.

on my truck the oil pan seal is the rear main seal. i don't want to trash the truck, however, i don't know how much damage was done to the enguine (it was without oil for a little while). i have put alot of time and money into the truck.

should i count my losses or fix what i have got?Blew the oil pan seal on my 1990 f150. straight six?
i own a repair shop and i would pull the engine out of it,and remove the oil pan,and pull a main bearing cap off of it,and see what damage has been done to it,it had to have done some damage to it,the question is how much, and how bad it will be,so id pull it out,and see how bad it is,it may turn out not to be so bad,if it wasn't knocking when you cut it off it might be ok,good luck i hope this helps.Blew the oil pan seal on my 1990 f150. straight six?
i think id have it towed in,that would be better, good luck. Report Abuse

find out why that seal blew first, then shop around to get a good price on dropping the pan, and replacing the seals.

check the engine over, and make shure there is proper crank case ventalation.

engines that cannot breathe properly, some times will pressurise, amd force out seals.
Get a new oil pan gasket and check your barings

I have an 87 amc jeep comanche. need to replace oil seal at tranny to drvshft.. psble to get digrms on how?

i need to replace an oil seal? at least ive narrowed it down to that. the seal i speak of is on an 87 jeep comanche, 242 inline6, manual transmission. i just recently replaced the slave cylinder for the clutch, only to have sprung an oil leak. its dripping from the connection of the driveshaft to the tranny. so i am on a search possibly for a diagram or something of the sort that would show the repair of the oil seal. anyone have any ideas? thanks for the help in advance!I have an 87 amc jeep comanche. need to replace oil seal at tranny to drvshft.. psble to get digrms on how?
no need for a diagram. Just remove the driveshaft and pull the seal out. Go to your local autoparts store (or Sears) and buy a seal puller. They are cheap. While at the autoparts store you could wander over to the Haynes auto manual section and flip through to see exactly how they say to do it (if they have a book unsealed). It's easy, just dig in. You may have to take the tailshaft housing off but that is only a a few bolts. That would make it easier but I've done it without removing it... also, if it's leaking, check the tailshaft housing for cracks. They are known for hairline cracks which equalls leaks. You may have to remove the housing anyway.

Good luck!I have an 87 amc jeep comanche. need to replace oil seal at tranny to drvshft.. psble to get digrms on how?
you dont need a diagram, just drop the drive shaft and pry the old seal out and tap the new seal in, but make sure you lube the new seal, before you install the drive shaft.
Just take down the drive shaft and tap out the seal with a big screwdriver and hammer. Put some bearing grease around the new seal and gently tap it back in. I say gently.

How much will it cost to replace a Front Oil Seal on a 97 Subaru Legacy?

My mechanic tells me that I need a front oil seal replaced on my 97 Subaru Legacy AWD with 123,000 miles. I've been needing to put oil in it every month or so to bring it to full, and I know it's leaking because I smell burning oil when it drips on the hot exhaust. I trust my mechanic and I am an amateur mechanic myself, but don't want to tackle something this big.

I'm looking for a ball park estimate, any advice would be appreciated! How much will it cost to replace a Front Oil Seal on a 97 Subaru Legacy?
you will need to replace all of the seals at the same time, 2 cam one crank seal. plus the timing belt and tensioner should be replaced too. ball park figure is 4 hours labor plus 100 dollars in parts. and you might as well have the water pump and thermostat done and maybe the accessory belts done if needed.

  • Car smoking from hood, smells bad, burning oil...Does it sound like a rear oil seal leak?

Car smoking from hood, smells bad, burning oil...Does it sound like a rear oil seal leak? That's what one guys told me but haven't got a second opinion yet. They said it'd cost me about 1 grand to fix because they need to take either the transmission or engine out to put a new seal on. Does this sound like it could be that or something else and cheaper? It's a 98 Nissan Maxima.Car smoking from hood, smells bad, burning oil...Does it sound like a rear oil seal leak?
If it's smoking and smelling then oil is getting onto very hot engine parts such as the exhaust, so have a look. Valve cover leaks can run down and look like a rear main seal and this is easily fixed.

If the engine is really dirty have it expertly cleaned and you will be able to see the source of the leak far better after running the engine for a short time.

As for a rear main seal, it's true that you have to separate the engine and transmission and in the case of a manual, remove the clutch and flywheel and the drive plate in the case of an auto trans. Not an easy or cheap job.Car smoking from hood, smells bad, burning oil...Does it sound like a rear oil seal leak?
no i doubt it, its most likely the valve cover gasket, nissans are notorious for this problem, i have a 97 nissan pathfinder and it had the cover gaskets replaced because they fail commonly on nissans, also i had a rear main seal leak and i had none of the symptoms you are describing
Could be a rear oil seal, but I would have a technician check to see where the leak is coming from. I'm not sure if you have a transverse or in-line engine, but if it is transverse, an oil seal leak will probably not cause the smoking from the hood.
It doesn't really sound like a main seal, those leaks usually just drip on the ground. Valve cover leaks tend to run over the exhaust manifold and make smoke. Get it checked out then decide what to do.
It could be a valve cover gasket. If i is the rear mail seal you should have oil all under the car. Mabey oil spot on the ground where you park your car.
have it checked by a mechanic could be a hundred different things as easy as a value cover gasket have it checked before jumping to conclusions
It could be a rear seal, but one thing is for sure, oil is dripping on your exhaust. Let it cool and you should be able to find the source of the leak.

    Good luck!

1998 chrysler neon is leaking oil at the cam oil seal top of the engine is this an expensive repair?

If it's the cam seal that's leaking, no it's not an expensive repair. Are they sure it's the cam seal? '95 to '99 model year Neons were notorious for head gasket oil leaks from that very same area. If it is the head gasket that's leaking, expect to pay about 6.5 to 8.0 hours of labour plus parts. Hope this helps.1998 chrysler neon is leaking oil at the cam oil seal top of the engine is this an expensive repair?
Not if you do it yourself, dealers charge about $50.00 an hour and go by the book. If the job takes 45 minutes and the book says four hours then you get charged four hours.1998 chrysler neon is leaking oil at the cam oil seal top of the engine is this an expensive repair?
The ';Chrysler'; Neon was the US export version of the Dodge and Plymouth Neons. I have heard that most of these vehicles came with the 1.8L engine, with the 2.0L as a sometimes option. Since no US Neon came with the 1.8L engine, and I have never seen one, I do not know the service history or architecture of this engine. If it is a 2.0L engine, I like sci's choice #1 (the cam position sensor gasket). That is exactly what I did to my Neon. Try the easy and cheap before choosing the difficult and expensive. A professional opinion or two would be your best bet. Best wishes!
the neon does have several issue 1st is head gasket design meaning replace head gasket to metal style ..2nd is cam walk which the cam wears through the camshaft position sensor causing oil leak the cam has to be shimmed to prevent this from happening .. 3rd oil seals there are 3 minor oil seals frt cam seal ,frt crank seal and cam shaft position cam seal..4th the major oil seal is the rear main oil seal which require transmission removal to replace ...
Most of the ones i have seen in the UK are the 2.0L as the 1.8L only had the basic trim level and was underpowered.
you should be aware of a very significant design flaw that Chrysler refuses to officially acknowledge. Note also that a lot of people think the 99 model year neon is not affected by this problem, however some of the 99 model year production run was produced before 9/98, meaning it is, in fact, affected. Also note that other DaimlerChrysler vehicles during that period using both the SOCH and DOHC 2.0L engines are affected.

hrysler used a head gasket in these vehicles that they knew would fail. Typical symptoms are the following:

-Car takes longer to warm up (if at all) OR car overheats

-Loss of power due to loss of compression.

-Reduced fuel economy, typically 8-10mpg for a minor leak

    -Oil leaks

    -Oil mixing with antifreeze

    -Rougher idle and engine hesitation

those leaks are on allmost all neons and its the head design if you fix the seal fix the head gasket and belt too
what engine? 2.0 SOHC or 2.4 DOHC???

Which end of the motor the accessory belt side or the transmission side????

All neon have two weak links

    1. Cam Sensor- transmission side of head- rubber gasket is about $1 and put a continuos ring of rtv sealant on it to make it actually seal. Do not over tighten as it will break the sensor(plastic).

    2. Head gasket- yes it externally leaks oil and can be at a huge rate too. It leaks at the drivers side rear of the head from the oil galley(pressurized) to the head. You won't get any headgasket other than the Chrysler Replacement(special unit multi-layer steel) to last more than 30K miles. The head must be planed by a machine shop and new head bolts installed with different torque specs.

If your cam seal on the front accessory belt side of the engine is leaking you must replace the timing belt to get to it- NOT a do it yourself job.

Get it looked at by a pro and print this out to take with you when you do

Oil Sump Seal ? Was told i needed one for my 1998 Renault Clio Biarritz 1.4?

Did an oil change and now I have a leak .Nut is tight and not stripped. Was told i needed a seal for my oil sump bolt? If there is one I can't find it on the web....help please!Oil Sump Seal ? Was told i needed one for my 1998 Renault Clio Biarritz 1.4?
There is a washer on the oil drain plug, which ideally should be replaced at every oil change. There are two types depending on the material the oil sump is made of. A steel sump has a copper washer, renault part number 7703062062. A washer for an aluminium sump is 8200641648. My guess is that yours is the copper one, as when this washer is used it crushes up to form a seal, rendering it useless a second time. If you don't want to go to a renault dealer for the part, try euro car parts, or gsf. they can both be found on the web.Oil Sump Seal ? Was told i needed one for my 1998 Renault Clio Biarritz 1.4?
is just a washer that goes a round oil drain plug you can buy at any parts store just say you need a new oil drain plug really place you had work done shouldnt have let you drive away with out fixing it since with it leaking you can lose all your oil and mess up motor and if its leaking you have to drain oil and start over but not hard to find onbe most auto parts store shouldhave them in stock if not a dealer would have one about 5 bucks

Does olive oil seal mosturizer in hair?

I use s-curl activator mosturizer and someone told me to use castor oil or like olive oil to seal the moisturizer in my hair.... Im trying to keep a balance between protein and moisture because i recently bought some aphogee products and plan on using them once a week and its a protein based line and i wanna make sure my hair doesnt get a protein overload so what im going to do is use s-curl activator moisturize as my mosturizer twice a day and then use extra virgin olive oil to seal the moisturizer in twice a day. Is this a good idea or is there another way I can seal in the moisturizer

Thanks in advanceDoes olive oil seal mosturizer in hair?
I've heard that, but i used it %26amp; it made my hair extremly oily.Does olive oil seal mosturizer in hair?
it REALLY moisturizes the hair.. it hydrates it very well.

also, the oil stimulates hair, so if used frequently hair with grow a little thicker and longer

if you have an oily scalp, i suggest after leaving the oil in your hair for at least 6 hours, wash it out using Heads %26amp; Shoulder for Oily Hair.... this way you will get a deep clean
Olive oil is a great natural moisturizer I use to warm it up like a hot oil treatment, and the low price is exceptional.

  • Yamaha DT100 oil seal replacement?

I have had a problem with the clutch cover leaking on my 1981 DT 100 so I thought I would do it right and take the cover off. I sealed the leaks coming from the actual aluminum case, now i just need to replace the oil seal around the kick start. I took it too a mechanic and he said it needs to be replace so how exactly should i go about removing it and replacing it? At first glance it seems pretty snug in its position and I don't want to damage the case. Also, where is the best place to buy a replacement part? Would my local motorcycle shop have to order one? I can get one for $6 on eBay so is that my best option? Also, how should i install the new seal to insure it doesn't leak. Thank you.Yamaha DT100 oil seal replacement?
The seal is just pressed in. Pull it out.

With the side cover on the engine -

    Remove the kickstart lever.

Tap a thin blade screw driver in between the seal and kickstart shaft.

Pry it out (be careful not to damage the side cover).

With the side cover off -

Pry out the seal (be careful the end of the screw driver blade doesn't scrape the cover, where the outside edge of the seal touches).

    To install -

Clean the side cover where the seal sits.

Tap the seal in a little at a time, so it goes in straight.

It's a tight fit - that's what keeps it from falling out.

Rear Main Oil Seal, 2000 Chrysler T&C?

First, I know that this repair is expensive. The Transaxle has to come out. ';it cost a lot'; is a bad answer.{;~)

Ok, this van has 145,000 miles. 3.8l V6. All of a sudden, 4 days ago, it just started dripping oil all over the place. Near as I can tell its either the Rear Main Oil Seal or a real bad Oil Pan Gasket.

Has anyone paid to replace or known someone who has repaired a Rear Main Oil Seal? How much does it cost, roughly?

Thanx in advance!Rear Main Oil Seal, 2000 Chrysler T%26amp;C?
    5.5 hour job

    look for the intake leaking

look for the highest leak on the car fix that first

also check to see that the pvc system isnt pluged upRear Main Oil Seal, 2000 Chrysler T%26amp;C?
5 to 7 hundred is a good range, but it still could be a valve cover.

As another poster said, there could be a problem in the PCV system, however, even if there is good vacuum at the valve there may be a blockage inside the valve cover not allowing the PCV to pull off the internal engine pressure. The rear seal is the weaker seal of all because it is the largest and too much internal pressure can force oil past it.

Those engines have baffles in the valve cover that are prone to plugging up with carbon deposits, and baked oil. I have stopped a few rear seal leaks by cleaning out the inside of the covers.

It could possibly be a leak at the oil pan, but that would be rare I believe. Those pans are factory sealed with a silicone glue that never fails. Check the pan bolts anyway, but look closely at the rear. If it is a seal leak, oil will be dripping from the backside of the bell housing cover. If the flywheel and torque converter area is dry, the leak will be elsewhere.
Rear mains usually run between $500-700 to repair. Doesn't seem fair for a $4 part, but a lot of labor involved. Oil pan is a little cheaper. First, check to make sure it's not your valve cover gasket leaking down the engine and check your oil filter to make sure it isn't leaking and the pan bolt is tight. I have fixed a few that the bolt was loose.
Firstly what colour is the oil? These cars have multiple problems with oil leaks and water leaks. Check the rocker cover gaskets and also the sump gasket. also check the inlet manifold and breather hoses. They also leak from the auto trans pan and the solenoid pack above the front of the trans.

1982 Jaguar XJS V-12 Leaks oil like crazy. had the front seal changed but still leaks oil any suggestions?

Welcome to old Jaguar's Large drip pans sit under many. Now before you get in way to deep have the engine compression tested. Worn pistion rings could cause to much crank case pressure. I suggest you put it up on a hoist and take a look to see for yourself where the oil is leaking from. If it's the front seal, take it back to the place that changed it. Actually, even if it's not the front seal take it back to them and complain. They will very quickly point out where the oil is leaking from if it's not the front seal.1982 Jaguar XJS V-12 Leaks oil like crazy. had the front seal changed but still leaks oil any suggestions?
Yes, in general, Jags stop leaking when they are out of oil. However, if your leakage is excessive, you're going to have to locate the leak and repair it. On a V12, the rear crank seal is a frequent culprit. This can be repaired in place using the rope seal from a Ford 460. You can find the procedure here:

    http://www.terrysjag.com/seal.html

Other seals are more straightforward. The key is locating the leak.

Whatever you do, don't even think about a Chevy motor. If it comes to that, sell the car to someone who cares.
J.P. has it right. Jags from the early to late 80's and even the early 90's are like the late 70's and 80's corvettes. You look at them wrong and they break.
dude poor you i dont know never tested it but put sealent and let desert sun bake for a while like weeks and dont drive inbetween the sun fixes leaks its different heat why donyt you tell the guy who fixed it to actually do that or else takem to small claims dont leave your car outa site with them after this!
You can put a motor oil dye in it, so you can see exactly where the leak is coming from.

    Gearbox oil seal sealer concern?

Thank you for all the replies I have had to my previous questions on here. One last question I need to ask is as you know the garage used a sealer mixed in with the gearbox oil and I have decided to get the oil replaced when the job is done properly because of this. I will have driven the car for about 10 days covering about 200 miles.

If the sealer they used was abrasive to the gears etc would it have done any lasting damage to the gearbox in the time I have been driving it or should I be safe ?

51 minutes ago - 4 days left to answerGearbox oil seal sealer concern?
As I already said - a sealer by its nature to do its job will have to be flexible and not rigid or contain any rigid/hard bits - thus it cannot be abrasive and will have done no damage to the box.

This will be the case no matter how many times you ask so please stop worrying.

Think about it - why would a sealer designed to work in oil be made in such a way that it would damage what the oil was there to protect!!!!Gearbox oil seal sealer concern?

Rear Main Oil Seal Replaced in 1995 Camry but still leaks oil is leaking past new seal, Why?

A diagnostic was done and it was confirmed that my rear main oil seal needed to be replaced. I had my rear main oil seal replaced in my 1995 Camry buy my machanic. They stated that oil is pushing past the new main oil seal. They stated that when they open the oil cap they can see oil bubbling out like air is trapped and is compressed some way causing the oil to leak/pushing past the new seal. They stated that all valves and the oil pump is working fine but there is a lot of sludge. What could this be from and how can I resolve it? Will a oil flush possibly stop this? The car has 241,000 miles on it and runs fine. Please helpful answers only!Rear Main Oil Seal Replaced in 1995 Camry but still leaks oil is leaking past new seal, Why?
Could be caused by a blocked PCV system t hat would cause new seals to blow out. The best way to tell is to do a Cylinder Leak down test and see how much pressure from combustion is leaking into the crankcase and blowing out your seals. If its excessive it could be caused by rings, a clogged PCV system or more. As for the sludge the only real way to get rid of it is to rip the engine apart and clean it out. This is usually caused by poor maintenance that caused the oil to stay in a spot inside the engine for an extended period of time and get hot and burned. If it were mine. I would take it to the dealer and have them redo the whole engine that way you can have piece of mind it was done right and a warranty. I still find it hard to believe that a mechanic wouldnt do a Cylinder Leak down test to figure out why the seal is leaking again.Rear Main Oil Seal Replaced in 1995 Camry but still leaks oil is leaking past new seal, Why?
When I first read your question I was thinking you had a scored crankshaft and no seal or flush would fix that. After I read it again I can't help but think that you need to check the PCV valve and it's tubing. Does the car leak more when it's running or with the engine off?
if your engine has sludge in it get it cleaned or replaced, i used to work at a toyota dealer and there is a recall on the 3.0 v6 engines for sludge, and i have seen the four cylinder 5s-fe have sludge problems aswell, all they do is either replace the short block with a new one and clean out the head from the sludge, or put in a engine from a junk yard car that is in good shape.

the sludge problem should be your number 1 concern not a few oil drips from the rear main seal.

Get the sealer product name and look it up on the internet to find the manufacturer's website. Read the specifications for the product to assure yourself that it was used properly in your gearbox.Gearbox oil seal sealer concern?
sealer dont work and any good shop wouldnt use any adn most people never replace gear oil they just top it off my car has 300,000 miles never had it replace yet just added to it when low 200 miles most people drive that in every week or in four hours if you had a leak an dits not leaking now why worry if its been repaired its fix
Very unlikely that a sealer could be in any way abrasive and still do its job.

Hope you get it sorted this time as I am beginning to become obsessive about it as well and I have never even seen the damned car.

  • Rear Main Oil Seal Replaced in 1995 Camry but still leaks oil is leaking past new seal, Why?

Lol, so lets analyze this, first of all a rear main seal wont cause sludge, it causes an oil leak between the engine and tranny, so obviously you have more than one problem. If you have sludge on your oil cap you need major engine work, head gasket or intake gasket. You have two totally irrelevant problems.Rear Main Oil Seal Replaced in 1995 Camry but still leaks oil is leaking past new seal, Why?
The new seal may leak from internal pressure, changing the pcv valve might help.Or with high miles, the crankshaft may wobble very slightly making the seal difficult.I sometimes use an oil additive called Main Sta,from the auto parts store. It swells and softens the rubber seals without doing any harm. And it does some amazing things to stop oil leaks.I personally wouldn't attempt to do anything about the sludge buildup.Pieces of sludge can break loose and clog the oil pump screen and passages if it's messed with. Some things are better left alone.Good luck.
Toyota did have a problem with sludge in the early 90`s and it affected the corrola`s mostly. But did hit the other makes as well . I would suggest an engine flush added as an aftermarket product and used as directed. Change your oil after the required period, drive for 2 weeks and do another oil change to remove the remaining sludge from the first flush. You should notice an improvement in power and mileage within the first week. Don`t forget to change the pcv valve and air filter if you have not done so recently. I personally do not believe in the 20 min engine flush they do at the shops nowadays. If you want to go that way I would let Toyota do it as then they should allready know what should happen when they flush it
Try putting in new pvc valve. That vents crankcase pressure.

    Ford probe, turbo oil seal?

someone dumb that down for me and tell me what it means if i need a ';new oil seal on the turbo of my ford probe'; :( i need to learn more about cars lolFord probe, turbo oil seal?
Your turbo requires oil to keep bearings from seizing! The seal will cause oil loss and does need replaced.

Here is a link to give you an understanding of the whole deal!

    http://www2.zhome.com:81/ZCMnL/PICS/turb鈥?/a>Ford probe, turbo oil seal?
I don't know about turbo, but I think it's just something that blows air into the engine, I don't think there is any oil seal on it, but I really don't know.

I know the engine has a main oil seal on it, maybe that is what you need, and that's not easy to replace.

What is the significance of the third seal, the rider of the black horse saying not to harm the oil or wine?

    Revelation 6:5-6

And when He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, ';Come.'; And I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand.

    6 And I heard as it were a voice in the center of the four living creatures saying, ';A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.';

The commentary I have by Paul Yonggi Cho says this:

When the third seal was opened, John saw a black horse, and its rider had a balance in his hands. This is a time of great famine. The shortage of food is so severe that its sale will be rationed by being weighed in the balance, 'a measure of wheat for a penny; and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine'; (v.6).

Famine and economic ruin are always the aftermath of war. During the war, resources are consumed by the war effort, as are available workers, and industrial facilities are destroyed.

The rider of the black horse is forbidden, however, to harm cooking oil and wine. Why? I believe it's because olive oil and wine are precious things used for sacrifices to God. But apart from them there will be a dreadful famine and economic devastation. What is the significance of the third seal, the rider of the black horse saying not to harm the oil or wine?
This likely means that there will hard times economically when this rider appears. About the oil and wine, the NIV study bible commentary says that this sets limits on the destruction that this rider can afflict on the world. The roots of the grapevine and olive tree run deeper and would be affected last by a drought. What is the significance of the third seal, the rider of the black horse saying not to harm the oil or wine?
    economic collapse

the pair of balances were used to conduct business

    Oil Seal...?

How can i prise out a small oil seal (gear lever shaft) which i suspect s the problem of an oil leak i have, screwdriver ec. doesnt seem to budge it? Preferably without having to take shaft out?

Also, should the magneto/generator be covered with oil or be farely dry as i have an oil leak coming from the magneto/gear change side of my bike and am unsure wether this is normal?

    Thanks..

    Bike: Suzuki TS 1980Oil Seal...?
The oil seal is a simple push fit. Prise it out with a screwdriver, it may have been ';glued'; in with silicon or loctite.

The generator housing should have no oil in it. It may be that someone has put oil on it to prevent it rusting which is a common problem.

Blown crank seals will not allow oil into the gen as the oil is contained in the primary drive case on the other side of the motor.

However if the chain has come off at some time and made an hole in the gearbox case.................

or it could just be the neutral switch.Oil Seal...?
TS 50 /185/250 all are 2 strokes so no oil should be coming out of the crank case to contaminate the magneto. As far as the oil seal check the diameter of the new seal the case may have a lip on it so it may have to go inwards so having to split the gear case. The 185 had oil injection to the crank the pipe may be split worth a look
oil on your mag is not a good thing! sounds like a crank seal, removing without dissassembly can be done, but very very carefully( i strongly advise you let a pro do this) drill small hole in face of seal, if you drill to deep and hit bearing game over! insert self tapping screw attached to slide hammer remove seal, sounds simple huh? to install, lube inside dia.of new seal Vaseline works well use piece of pipe longer than shaft slightly smaller than outside dia.of seal gently and evenly tap in new seal good luck.

  • Rear Main Oil Seal or Oil Pan Leak? ?

    2000 T%26amp;C, 3.8L v6, 145,000 miles

I have an oil leak either from the Rear Main Oil Seal or the oil pan.

I have looked under the vehicle and the oil appears to be leaking from the RMOS, but I talked to Lithia Chryser and the tech said that the oil pans are notorious for leaking on the transmission side.

My question is, Can the RMOS leak when the vehicle is NOT running?Rear Main Oil Seal or Oil Pan Leak? ?
rear main seal usually only leaks when the car is running. though oil will slowy drip off afterwards. now the best way to tell is to remove the heat sheild that covers the flywheel and look at it and at the flywheel . is the oil only on the engine side of the cover or is it inside the cover and on the fly wheel. the rear main seal will leak into the bellhousing and on the fly wheel the oil pan gasket will leak on the front of the heat sheild.Rear Main Oil Seal or Oil Pan Leak? ?
take the inspection plate off and see if there is oil in it. you could try to snug up each bolt on the oil pan and see if it stops.

Gm 2.8 v6 rear main oil seal?

I have a 2.8 v6 with a leaking rear main. it has the 2 piece rear seal. ive read that this is a common problem with this engine. Is there a ';trick'; to keeping this from happening again, the seal has already been replaced once a few years ago.Gm 2.8 v6 rear main oil seal?
Make sure it is the rear main. 2.8's will also leak from the distributor o-ring and look like a rear main.Gm 2.8 v6 rear main oil seal?
The only ';trick'; is to make sure it is installed correctly in the first place...the seal needs to be lubricated well when it's pulled through, and surfaces need to be good and clean before pulling it through...any grit in there makes for a poor installation.
In addition to MICHAEL's note, another very common cause for failure is prolonged oil service. Change the oil religiously, and stay away from high-paraffin oils. If it has high mileage, avoid synthetic as well.

Bike: Suzuki TS 1980M/cycle Oil Seal?
Its leaking and if you can carefully drill the seal and use a sheet metal screw in it and use that to pull it out. you might have to do both sides to get an even pull. keep doing this process and the drill will eventually chew out enough of the seal to let it release from the housing.M/cycle Oil Seal?

Available at any auto parts store.
To remove the seal with out removing the shaft, the best way is to use a small drill, drill to equally spaced holes in the face of the seal, screw two small self tapping screw into the holes and then use two vice grips to pull the seal out.

The magneto oil problem sounds like the crack seal has also failed. Unfortunately you will need to change this as well.

What is causing my front camshaft oil seals to leak?

I wish you gave a lot more information, but your question suggests that you have replaced the front seal at least once with unsatisfactory results, I have seen some failures due to a groove that was worn into the crankshaft where the seal rides or residue on the crankshaft that makes proper sealing impossible. I usually sand the crankshaft with a fine emory cloth to clean the crank. Check the fit on the crankshaft before you install to be sure it is the right size and will fit both the crank and the cover. I always put some fresh clean motor oil on the seal so it is lubricated on initial start-up and isn't run dry that could damage the new seal. Use a seal installer or fashion something that enables you to install the new seal without damage and be sure it is installed squarely. Sometimes on the outside around the seal I put some silicone sealer to ensure a good seal. And lastly I use sealer on the balancer to crank and the threads on the crank shaft retaining bolt. also be sure the PCV system is working. This should do it. Good luck. What is causing my front camshaft oil seals to leak?
It could be a number of things but mostly just use. I don't know how old the car is %26amp; how many miles on engine, etc. Usually the leak is due to age because the seals are a sealed item and not subject to the elements. Again, not knowing Year-Engine-Mileage, etc, It's hard to say what is the cause. Even though these ';Answers'; forums make diagnosis hard enough, if not impossible. What is causing my front camshaft oil seals to leak?
A bad seal. Three times is a charm. Sorry what ever you are doing you need to change and correct it. Talk to a home town Auto store Mechanic and sometimes they can give good directions to your very problem.

    Good Luck.

Just a shot in the dark-- But so you have a torque wrench??

are surfaces cracked?? or scratched?? and that is perma teks its ok but is it what the process calls for??

Did you pre lube them before installation?

    I do.

Is the seating surface intact or is it worn?

It the seating surface is out of specifications they will not seal right no matter what you do. I don't know if there is a speedy sleeve for this area.
Worn with age/usage on existing oil seals

    Improper replacement installation workmanship

Sounds like the front of the crankshaft is worn replacing the seal will not do much good.

Seal an oil? Don't. Just leave it. After time any sealant will yellow your whites and change your brights. The oil w/in the paint will protect it and make it easy to clean if needed. I know there may be some ';good'; sealants out there... check w/ the brand of paint you use but be cautious. I've restored some old pieces and yuck! The ones that weren't sealed cleaned up beautifully. But remember whatever the painting is done on (canvas, board, etc.) should be of quality or that will deteriorate. Good luck.Haw match i must seal a oil painting?
you don't seal an oil painting you varnish it you can varnish it with touch up varnish or damar varnish when it dries to the touch but only varnish it with regular varnish when the painting dried throughly that may take up to a year.

You could buy a Haynes manual, they're ace for things like that. You can get them off E-Bay!
If you've never done it before, you should take it to a dealer. A lot of forks require a special ';fork seal driver'; to get the seals on and off. Also the amount of oil and the weight of the oil are extremly crucial to the forks working properly. Its best to let the pros handle it, or watch somebody that has done it before, then you can try to do it next time.
Sorry don't know much about motorcycles but you could go to your closest motorcycle retailer. They should be able to tell you exactly what you'll need and what to do.

It started as a transmission fliud leak. I have changed both seals and I have an oil leak. When I check it after a 100 mile drive it's like I lose about 1/8th of a quart. I'm puzzeled.Leak continues, I replaced the transmission pump seal and the rear main seal and I still have a oil leak, why?

There is a oring on the front pump cover that gets hard and leaks. If you didn't change that then you may have to pull the trans again

I replaced my oil pan gasket last night, but i broke one of the bolts off. would this effect with the seal?

is there anyway to get it out? what kind of gasket sealer should i use? how long does it take to seal? would 19 out of 20 hold it? becuase after chaning it last night i ran it for about 30 in and it will still leaking. so i dont know if i just didn't let it sit long enough or it was something i did.I replaced my oil pan gasket last night, but i broke one of the bolts off. would this effect with the seal?
it should seal as soon as the bolts are done up- chances are that its still leaking because you snapped the bolt!

take the oilpan back off and see if you can get a pair of vice grips onto the broken bolt and wind it out.I replaced my oil pan gasket last night, but i broke one of the bolts off. would this effect with the seal?
I think there is more to the leak then one missing bolt. I would take it to the dealer and have it repaired. It will be expensive, but just accept it as necessary. A tip in the future would be to use a torque wrench or if u r right handed to use your left hand to tighten.

Using ur less strong hand is a good way not to over tighten fasteners.

  • Is sunflower oil a good oil to seal my ends with?

you can't really ';seal'; your ends. the best thing to do it get a trim. if you're afraid to go short then get a trim gradually inch by inch so that you can get use to the length. the more you try to ';repair'; split ends without just trimming them off instead, the worse it can get. split ends will seperate more and more then longer you wait, and then it might be too late and you'll have no choice but to cut a dramatic amount offIs sunflower oil a good oil to seal my ends with?

Oil painting with label on back that says Collectors corner inc. seal of authenticy?

I aquired an oil painting of the waves hitting rocks on the beach, it has a label on back that says Collectors Corner inc. seal of authenticy, and to include painting in insurance coverage for theft, it also has a serial #, I was wondering if this painting may be workth ;anything?

I can't make out the signature on the painting but the first intitial begins with an A. and last name begins with an L. Can anyone help please?Oil painting with label on back that says Collectors corner inc. seal of authenticy?
I'm sure your painting is lovely. but in all my years, no one has ever had a ';masterpiece'; I.E an undiscovered Rembrandt, with a ';seal of authenticy'; label on the back. Auction houses don't label art, they assign it a number and a certificate is issued to the bearer.

Art becomes valuable because of rarity and who actually painted it. Any thing that is marketed as a ';collectible'; or ';rare'; is not. It is mass produced.

Best bet - look on Google for Collectors Corner , see what comes up.

What would cause too much fluid pressure in my automatic gm transmission, making oil leak out the front seal?

I took out the tranny and replaced the seal.

    torque converter looked good.

    fluid pressure too high

any suggestions? it's a 4L30E out of an isuzu rodeoWhat would cause too much fluid pressure in my automatic gm transmission, making oil leak out the front seal?
I own a transmission shop, and have worked on many cars. The seal usually has a clip that holds the seal in for one thing, and another is the drain back hole is too small, thus it creates too much pressure pushing the seal out, or blowing fluid right past the lip of the seal. We did get a service bulletin on these concerning this problem. You are supposed to drill out the return hole to a bigger size, glue the seal in, and hammer the retainer in place to help hold it in. Believe it or not, but a bad throttle position sensor can also cause this problem. If the ECM thinks the throttle is pushed down more than it actually is, this will cause a high pressure situation. Remember some throttle position sensors must be calibrated upon installation. Right off hand I don't know what the return hole is to be drilled out to in order to relieve pressure behind the seal. I would have to search for the answer. This comes in the instructions with a rebuild kit, and in a shift kit, so I wouldn't swear I even saved the information. The wear on the torque converter hub may be too much, and we always replace them on all transmissions we build. At least its better than having to pull it back out for a leak. Did you replace the seal around the pump housing? Does the torque converter have a pin hole in it? Too much pressure almost always will push the seal out of the houshing before it will leak where the spring loaded lips are on the seal.

Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!What would cause too much fluid pressure in my automatic gm transmission, making oil leak out the front seal?
A worn front pump bsg would be the likely cause of the leak rather than high pressure.same thing that happens when bsg wears out on 700-R4 .to much oil gets by the bsg for the drain back in pump to handle.
a bad pump in the tranny

  • Gearbox selector oil seal ?

Hi, I have got a problem with my 1.9 dt scenic renault megane 1997 reg there is a leak on 'The gearbox selector oil seal' so I am told, could anybody please tell me is this a garage job?how much will it cost? or can I find a friendly mate to do a diy job to make the repair?

    Thanks guy's %26amp; gal'sGearbox selector oil seal ?
you could do it yourself. locate the seal. drill a small hole in the seal and screw a self tapper into it. this will give you somit to pull it out with. if you can get a haynes manual from the library this will tell you how to line up the selector linkage.Gearbox selector oil seal ?
The gearbox selector seal can be seen on the top of the gear box. To replace the seal is a DIY job and if done slowly and carefully should take no more than and hour to do.

Follow the advice the previous contributor gave about using a drill and a self tapping screw to remove the old seal.

One word of caution, you need to make defiantly sure that the seal has gone. I am surprised that it has gone as the seal does not have a hard life and with it being on the top of the engine oil leaks are not common.

    Ja.
