My Dune Buggy has an oil leak at the transmission seal how much will it cost to repair?

it leaks oil at the transmission seal where the drive axle bolts upMy Dune Buggy has an oil leak at the transmission seal how much will it cost to repair?
Do it your self. I am assuming it is a vw based buggy. Pull the axle at the CV (the metal piece covered by the black cone shaped rubber piece). You will need to slide the boot down the axle if it is in your way. There are a bunch of bolts that go around the CV that need to come out. Once you remove them, pull the axle out of your way. There is a flange that the axle CV was bolted to. It will pop out of the trans-axle case with a big screwdriver or pry bar. Once it is out, you can pull the axle seal out with a screwdriver. Take the seal to an auto parts store and buy a new one ($5 or so). Pound it back in by lightly tapping it in a circular motion with hammer. Slide the drive flange back into it's place and tap back in with a hammer. Put the CV back in place and bolt it back up. It is an easy job that you can do on your own with minimal tools and ability. If oil drips out of the trans-axle, refill it at the 17mm hex head fill plug on the side of the case.

D.I.Y. should be less than 30 bucks.
