Do you think the first candidate to allow oil drilling in America will seal a victory?

The funniest thing about offshore drilling,is other countries are just beyond our boundaries, drill in international waters just off our shelf,in the Gulf and off of Florida. Why are we the ones holding back?.As for those whom speculate that any new drillingis worthless, whether its Anwar, etc, makes you ask this question.....Its the oil companies spending the money to drill, seek, and exploit the oil,not tax money(although the govt will have their hand out for taxes)So why are the democrats against it?Its not hurting them? Its not costing them money? We now have better technology as to not scar the environment, and if it should happen, the fines will be great, and come from the oil companies,so why are they against it?Really?Do you think the first candidate to allow oil drilling in America will seal a victory?
Not if the voters are smart and don't simply react to things. First, A Department of Energy (BTW, this is Bush's own administration) report released last month found that the Arctic Refuge’s reserves will do little to reduce the price of a barrel of oil:

If Congress were to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, crude oil prices would probably drop by an average of only 75 cents a barrel, according to Department of Energy projections issued Thursday.

The report…found that oil production in the refuge “is not projected to have a large impact on world oil prices.”

Then, yesterday, McCain’s message was contradicted yesterday by his top economic adviser, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, who told reporters that new offshore drilling wouldn’t help lower current gas prices. Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a senior advisor to McCain’s campaign, acknowledged in a conference call to reporters that new offshore drilling would have no immediate effect on supplies or prices.

Further, the Energy Information Administration says that new offshore drilling wouldn’t have “a significant impact” on gas prices until 2030.

2030. It's all a ruse. Don't believe the hype.Do you think the first candidate to allow oil drilling in America will seal a victory?
Drilling in ANWR and off the coasts of California and Florida are just not very popular. Politicians who want to get re-elected are treating the issue with kid loves.

BTW Did you know that the plan is for all the oil that comes out of ANWR to be sold in the Far East? It's cheaper to transport it to Japan and China than to the US. It's funny how Republicans talking about how we should drill in ANWR never seem to mention that.
I wonder why republicans think drilling more holes will instantly solve our energy problems? In reality it is only putting off the inevitable, no? Oil is a finite resource, we need our own types of energy production so we can stop fooling around with countries that have oil but don't like us. That is the surest way to fight terrorism in my humble opinion.
Drilling is the worst idea ever if I were McCain I would flip again before is too late. Drilling solves nothing, and it depletes our resources. You solve nothing by growing your own cocaine in a pot if you can't afford a dependency of a acre plantation.
McCain is pro-drilling, and Bush wanted it to go down.

Thank the Dems for dropping the ball, again.

I see McCain winning this election, hands down.

Nixon in 72.

Reagan in 84.

Blowout fashion.
No, because most Americans know that it won't make a differene in today's costs, and that if we are talking abotu 10 years down the road, we better have something else besides Oil up our sleeve.
Depends on how ignorant people really are here in the US.

Obama-08
Yes.
No. Liberals won't be swayed by drilling. They have been brainwashed by Al Gore.
