Are toyota camrys notorious for having rear seal oil leaks?

I did a web search for the keywords in your question,

and found quite a few listings.

Then I tried it for different makes and models,

and got as many results!

I looked up the US gov'ts free

Technical Service Bulletin and Recall site,

but there wasn't anything specific

using the ';all years'; (9999) value

for your question's make and model

(for those who don't know what a TSB is,

it is a record for mechanics when they fix a given car;

it does not necessarily mean anything is ';bad'; or ';wrong';;

for example, the manufacturer might have substituted

a particular out-dated replacement part for a newer one).

So, without knowing any further details

(i.e., year, mileage, maintenance, etc),

there is no way to give you a reasonable answer.Are toyota camrys notorious for having rear seal oil leaks?
Yes and No,

most all cars and trucks with over 120,000 miles start devolping leaks some from rear seals others from main seals, oilpan seals etc. Toyota makes a great vehicle and they stand behind their products 100% and for jbear keep your profanity comments to your self and if GM is so great why did the buy technolgy from Toyota and why does Toyota give twiced the warranty? GM products fail under warranty you still pay shop fees . 3 years ago was 150.00$ shop fees minimum. Toyota not only covers 100% but if i bring my toyota in cause of a warranty repair needed they pay for my gas as my dealership is 60 miles from my home. They take care of all their customers. that is why Toyota sales is higher than GM. GM is the junk here. always has been always will be.Are toyota camrys notorious for having rear seal oil leaks?
yes they are
Check the O ring on the distributor.
all camrys do leak at rear main seal when they get about 120,000 miles or the car is 10 yrs old which is normal for any car,but a lot of times it can be leaking from top of engine and oil running down,but it will look the rear seal is leaking .recommend to clean eng good and re inspect if you see oil drippimg out of transmisson bell housing it is the rear main and is a costly repair. if its not dripping and losing a lot of oil keep driving it you will just have a mess where you park.
a lot mis diag of what appears to be a reae main is usally the oil pan sealant because toyotas do not use gaskets sealant only try tighten oil pan bolts first u might get lucky
no if you beat any car they will leak,anyways ive got 1790000km on mine and its not leaking soo....but i have seen them leak and its not fun,big job
