Using linseed oil to seal tile/grout in a tile shower?

I had heard this was a way to seal grout lines and porous tile; any truth to this? Specifically, would this be applicable for wet areas?Using linseed oil to seal tile/grout in a tile shower?
Yes you can but there is a very good chance that it will darken grout. Even vegetable oil can be used. I dont advise is because it can very much darken grout.

I feel the newer penetrating sealers are a better product

Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. GLUsing linseed oil to seal tile/grout in a tile shower?
hi nero

boiled linseed oil is the last thing that you would want to use. first of all it wouldn't seal anything out and what it would do is stay sticky and the dirty would stick to it and look terrible. boiled llinseedoil has many uses but is not used very much anymore. when you use it for a wood preservative you need to thin it with varsol then apply to raw wood is best.
Linseed oil is a great treatment for wood, but not for tile and grout. Use a good commercial sealer in your choice of flat or wet-look. I would only seal the grout on a tile shower floor or use a product that will not make the area slick.
linseed oil is use to make stable grout after installation it's done and grout is dried .If you have damage grout you should grind it and apply new grout and then apply linseed oil .
