Blew the oil pan seal on my 1990 f150. straight six?

What should i do. otherwise, the truck is in perfect condition. what are my options at this point.

on my truck the oil pan seal is the rear main seal. i don't want to trash the truck, however, i don't know how much damage was done to the enguine (it was without oil for a little while). i have put alot of time and money into the truck.

should i count my losses or fix what i have got?Blew the oil pan seal on my 1990 f150. straight six?
i own a repair shop and i would pull the engine out of it,and remove the oil pan,and pull a main bearing cap off of it,and see what damage has been done to it,it had to have done some damage to it,the question is how much, and how bad it will be,so id pull it out,and see how bad it is,it may turn out not to be so bad,if it wasn't knocking when you cut it off it might be ok,good luck i hope this helps.Blew the oil pan seal on my 1990 f150. straight six?
i think id have it towed in,that would be better, good luck. Report Abuse

find out why that seal blew first, then shop around to get a good price on dropping the pan, and replacing the seals.

check the engine over, and make shure there is proper crank case ventalation.

engines that cannot breathe properly, some times will pressurise, amd force out seals.
Get a new oil pan gasket and check your barings
