How long is 2cycle engine oil stored in a metal sealed can good for.?

I remember Castrol TTS came in tins - that's easy 20 years ago now....

Would be probably just fine, if it was synthetic or synthetic/mineral blend and if the tin hasn't rusted (lets face it - a tin full of lube is not the easiest to rust!) or been left open long enough for water to be an issue. I wouldn't be too keen to use twenty or thirty year old lube in a modern engine even so.....

Lawn edger or other domestic 2st maybe? Old chook chaser that you don't care about?

I'd want to put the lube in a clear glass container to see any visible greeblies or contamination first at least. How long is 2cycle engine oil stored in a metal sealed can good for.?
Probably forever, but oil companies continue to improve their products (additives, etc.), so using an older can of oil may not be as good for the engine as using a new can.How long is 2cycle engine oil stored in a metal sealed can good for.?
If it's in a metal can, it must be at least 30 years old. Probably belongs in a museum, not your tank.
i agree with jims .. ive never seen a metal 2 stroke oil bottal . man that thing does deserve to go in some kind of boat shop/musem
it is good for a long time no worries
