Having trouble putting rear crankcase oil seal on 2.5n/a landrover, garage failed to do it please help, julie x?

does the engine need to be dropped?having trouble with top nut alledgedly, any easy way, been charghed 拢200 8mnths ago and gone again, please, any advice out there, julie. x.Having trouble putting rear crankcase oil seal on 2.5n/a landrover, garage failed to do it please help, julie x?
Yes the engine needs to be dropped. Also check your engine breathers if they are blocked you get excessive crank case pressure causing seal to leak Regards Mick

I have 1993 l i need a oil seal for the front crank shaft?

You didnt mention what kind of car you have, so being very general, you need to know what size engine you have, as well as any options the car has, i.e. A/C, heavy duty cooling, etc. To replace it, you have to remove the crankshaft pulley. It's usually the largest pulley on the bottom of the engine. Get a seal puller because you definitely dont want to knick or dig into the metal around the seal, as you will cause a leak. You need also a seal installer in install it, because it has to go in perfectly straight or it will leak, and all the work was for nothing. Good luck.I have 1993 l i need a oil seal for the front crank shaft?
Hey, I just looked on ebay, and theres almost 3 pages of parts for Festiva's. There are a few complete engine gasket sets for the 1.3. Check it out. Report Abuse

You will need to get a measurment and order one to fit. Oil seals are made in so many sizes and its doubtful that you will be able to find the specs. Easier to measure than to search.

Rear main seal and oil pan gasket replaced, still leaking oil.?

Any ideas why?Rear main seal and oil pan gasket replaced, still leaking oil.?
Put leak detector dye in to engine oil, depends on how bad it leaks, run for a while then see with a UV light to know before take it apart. If leaks at rear main seal, when changing it,should remove the rear main bearing cap also, put silicon where the mating surface, also at corners of oil pan to main bearing caps.Rear main seal and oil pan gasket replaced, still leaking oil.?
Where is it leaking oil? Get some engine degreaser and spray it on while engine warm, then spray it off with water so you can see exactly where its coming from, sometimes the leak will not even be close to where the oil drips, it can travel from one side of the engine to the other, was the transmission removed to replace the rear main seal? Was sealant applied to the corners of the oil pan gasket when installed? If it is the rear main the oil should dripping from the transmission housing. I have seen a sensor on the side of the engine leak and travel down the side of the engine along the lip of the oil pan and look like it was coming from there, so clean your engine well, drive it a few miles then look closely with a flashlight all over the engine.
Engine size would be a BIG help dude. It could be a number of places unfortunatly for you. Valve covers is usualy a good place to start. If it is a V-8 it could be out of the back of the intake manifold. There is suposed to be a gasket or gasket material that runs along the back of the block between the lower block and the intake maniflod. The small block Chevy use to be notrious for developing a leak here, some of the 302 Fords too. The seal simply shrinks and get hard with old age and starts to leak. If you have the straight six in it I would look more towards the valve cover or side cover leaking. Look at the PVC hose too, especially if it is ruff running. It would indicate a hose that is broken and then would allow the crankcase oil that is supose to be going back into the engine to get sucked out the hose.
sounds like the seal was,nt put in right. if it was the rubber seal then the lip on the seal should point towards the front of the engine and you need to put a dab of high temperature silicone sealer on both ends of the bearing cap before installing the bearing cap. also if they did,nt oil the seal up before installing it then the first time you crank the engine it will scar the seal and it will start leaking.
Give us a hint?

Make, model and year for starters. Where it seems to be leaking would also help.

The crank shaft seal surface may be grooved, the seal may not be installed flush and perpendicular to the crank, the seal may be defective or damaged during installation, an oil supply plug behind the flywheel may be leaking - what ever the reason, access is needed and a good visual inspection to pin point the exact location of the leak.
either there not in rite or the bolts need re-tightened

  • Is sunflower oil a good oil to seal my ends with?

Sunflower is a pretty heavy oil compared to other oils. If you want to seal your ends, I would use a light oil, such as sweet almond, coconut or jojoba oil. I especially recommend jojoba oil because it has the same chemical structure to natural oils that we produce, so you won't leave your hair a greasy mess. It really helps tame hair too. You can get it from any health food store. Is sunflower oil a good oil to seal my ends with?
It wouldnt seal it it would do good for your hair dont get me wrong because sunflower oil is great for hair but if you wanna seal your ends think about gettng a heavy duty greese to put on them but dont put that on all of your hair unless you wash it out because the greese is unbelievable!

Has anybody experienced repairing and sealing an oil leak on a transformer?

What was the reason and how did you fix it?Has anybody experienced repairing and sealing an oil leak on a transformer?
Depending on where the leak is, there are epoxy products can repair pin-hole leaks that occur during welding at the factory.

It may not work if there is too much head pressure in the transformer.

If the leak is near the top, you can pull a partial vacuum on the transformer and then apply the epoxy.

If the oil level is too high above the leak, there may be too much pressure to make a good seal.Has anybody experienced repairing and sealing an oil leak on a transformer?
isnt a transformer an electrical part? im not really sure what ur talking about but i cant imagine why it has oil....

the problem is that oil makes things hard to fix because it doesnt really let anything stick...

best thing to do would be to weld it but u would have to drain all the oil first and clean up the hole real good to remove any oil residue... then weld it...

but if thats not an option theres specialized epoxies that work under these circumstances .. but be warned.. it might hold up for years but its not a permanent fix... welding is a permanent fix... but like i said i dont really know what is going on in this situation im just trying to help you... i hope that helps.

The existance of tke seal beach oil company in california?

is there any history of what happened to that company, its president: john a sharon' or mr templeman: secretaryThe existance of tke seal beach oil company in california?
The Seal Beach oil field was discovered in September 1924, when the discovery well “Bryant” 1, Sec. 3, T.5S., R,12W., S. B. B.%26amp;M. was drilled by Shell 011 Company In the North Block area. In February 1927, the Alamitos area was discovered with the drilling of “Naples” 1. This well ( Now operated by Pan Western Petroleum Co,), is in Sec. 3, 1.5 S., R.12W., S. B. B.%26amp;M., and was drilled originally to a depth of 4,757 feet. 1 he well was completed~d bare(oot in the Selo\,er zone (lower Pliocene) at a depth of 4,740 to 4,757 feet. Initially, the well flowed 27.7” API gravity oil at a rate of ,2,279 barrels a day, with no water cut. Underlying zones in the area were discovered with the drilllng and completion of General Petroleum Corp. well “Wasem” 7 in June 1927, and Continental Oil Corp. well “McGrath” 18 in November 1929. “Wasem” 7, presently owned by Mobil Oil Corp., was drilled to a depth of 5,416 feet and produced from the Wasem zone (Pliocene-upper Mloccme), Because minimal oil production resulted frorm this off-structure location, “Wasem” 7 was abandoned the same year.

“McGrath” 18 (presently owned by Marina Pacific( a Chl Co, ) was drilled to a depth of 6,894 feet and completed with slotted liner from 6,048 to 6,894 feet in the McGrath zone (upprv Miocene). Initially, the well produced 578 barrels a day of 27.’Y API gravity oil, with a 29 percent water cut.

Drilling and field development continued in the Alamitos area through the mid-1950s, Production history for the area shows a rapid initial decline, followed by35 years of a gradual decline. Over 31 million barrels of oil have been produced from the area, with almost half of the production in the first 3 years. Today, the Alamitos area is in a mature production stage. Of the 140 wells completed, only 19 are still producing. The average production rate is 229 barrels a day of oil, and 313 Mcf a day of natural gas, The average gas-oil ratio for the Alamitos area is 1,368 cubic feet per stock tank barrel, The average water cut is 74 percent.

Marine Area A new discovery made in 1979, directly west-northwest of the Alamitos area, was designated as the Marine area. In January 1979, Elliot and Ten Eyck drilled well “ET” 1, Sec. 3, T.5S., R.1’2W., S. B. B.%26amp;M., to a depth of 8,700 feet, and completed It In the McGrath zone. Initial production flowed through perforations from 5,614 to 5,634 feet deep, averaging 105 barrels a day of 24° API gravity oil, with a 70 percent water cut. Chw hundred Mcf a day of natural gas was produced. In February through April 1981, Elliot and Ten Eyck drilled well “ET” 6 to a depth of 9,934 feet, and completed the well in the lower McGrath and Ldne zones (upper Miocene), with a 5 1 /2-inch slotted liner from 7,368 to 9,934 feet deep. Production after 30 days was 138 barrels a day of 25” API gravity oil, with a 1 percent water cut. Twenty-one Mcf a day of natural gas was produced. Since 1979, 16 wells have been completed in the Marine area, with 11 still producing, Cumulative production is about 2.5 million barrels of oil and 2,143 MMcf of natural gas.

Oh Thats a very tough job . Your best bet is to go buy a book (Hanes manual). I dont think anyone can really answer that question on the net. Your going to need step by step instruction. The manuals only cost 15 to 20 dollars at your local part store.lIts a great investment if you plan on keeping the car. Also your local library will probably carry these books and more. How do i change the inner front oil seals on a 1996 dodge ram 4x4?
you have to pull the rotor off..that should be all....behind that is your axle seal

What is the shelf life on synthetic motor / engine oil? Sealed? Unsealed?

I have some oil sealed in their containers that I found in my storage. They've been sitting for two-three years, but don't know if they're still good.

I guess I'm worried about condensation in them. I know if they haven't been heated or contaminated, they're suppose to be still good. (Yes, they're sealed in their container) But what about condensation? My little storage unit isn't air conditioned, so it gets really cold in winter and hot in summer.

I'm worried about water condensation being inside the sealed container and using them on my motorcycle.

Please state your facts, not opinions. And if you have the source also, that would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! What is the shelf life on synthetic motor / engine oil? Sealed? Unsealed?
Shelf life on sealed motor oil is indefinite, even if the container was not sealed it still fine, condensation would be an issue with numerous heating and cooling cycles such as in an engine not stored in a garage. The oil container will deform a bit to compensate for cooling and heating contraction and expansion, its not sucking in any air so no moisture can get in, mineral oil is stable to 425 degrees F, synthetic to over 500 F. The only issue is the SAE rating, they keep improving the additive packages all the time. What is the shelf life on synthetic motor / engine oil? Sealed? Unsealed?
I have a bottle of Lucas synthetic additive at my mechanics place. The reason it's there is he lost the top. I only use a quarter bottle at a time, and I'm down to my last 1/4. It's been there with just a rag over the top for about 4 months. I have not noticed any difference in the stuff from the bottle with the cap, to the bottle my wrench has.

(I always used to take the bottle home with me to top off if I needed it, and took it back every service interval. I never needed to top off. At 50,000, I got no oil burning issues or leaks.)

Before there were synthetic oils available to the general public, I always used to keep a quart of ';plain Jane'; oil in the trunk of the car. (Back when I owned one, that is.) Great invention, that plastic jug. If you opened the old cardboard and tin top cans, you pretty well much had to use it, or lose it, pretty quick. But most of the ';lose it'; was it falling over and leaking. I can't recall that I've ever had oil ';go bad';. Ever.

Oil, unlike break fluid, does not absorb moisture. And truth be told, if it were not for the collector value of some of the older cardboard and tin top oil cans, I would not hesitate to use the oil in them! If oil can live in your engine, vented to the outside air, and used for 3,000 or more miles under the conditions it's used under, I'm pretty sure that even re-sealed plastic jugs are good. And that means that sealed have to be even better.

(Some of you are gonna holler: ';OK how about water in the oil! The stuff that makes it a foamy tan color!'; Well, here you go. The water in the oil that makes it foamy gets in the system by poor pressure washing technique, a bad head gasket, etc. Oil don't just sit around and suck up moisture. Even in the old cardboard cans. I know since I have a few. Except for a few scratches and some fading of the logo, they look just fine. No swelling like bad food cans, etc.)

Use the oil. We are running out. Look at my avatar pic. That Lucas goes in my FXDWG. That TC-88 runs a bit warm. (But not as warm as the new ones, from what I hear!) And I am VERY protective of my motor. Only thing I worry about more is my brakes.

Use your oil. If it could go bad, they would put an expiration date on it. Like on milk. Ride safe. Ciao!
I know that most folks don't think about how long it was in the ground before they grabbed it off the shelf at the store.

There is no practical shelf life. It will last something like 30,000 years in its current state. You might give it a shake to mix the anti-wear additives that might have settled a little.

    Good Luck!
Synthetic oil should never go bad. Any condensation will be on the outside of the container not inside. You could store it underwater and it still wouldn't hurt it.The whole purpose of synthetic oil is that it doesn't break down or lose viscosity.
are you getting ready for CryoFreeze and coming back the next milinium?

    hehehehah

Ok, its alreay 300 million years old. Hah !

All oil is synthetic today. Dont you know.

but it is good as the protection additives in the oil.

if it can last for 6 months in a filty crank case , imagine how long sitting on a garage shelf.

    Maybe 60 years?

    its sealed so what condensate?

Why sould I seal or not seal off the cpu when I build my oil cooled computer?

I have seen alot of oil cooled computers out there and I want to build my own. Some people say to seal around it with silicone.

Some don't even bring up the subject and just dip their computer right in. Has anyone had any experience with this? Why sould I seal or not seal off the cpu when I build my oil cooled computer?
    NICE PROJECT,CONGRATULATIONS!

Sealing it with silicone clears away some unexpected bluescreens. The pins around the CPU when covered in oil cause some sort of electrical discharges.

One additional suggestion is for you to use motor oil,not cooking oil (semi-synthetic)...from my experience, after 2-3 months,a computer cooled with normal organic oil starts to smell like french fries...the semisynthetic or full synthetic oil is much better ...try 5W40,10W40...doesn't really matter that much and full synthentic doesn't start to smell..Why sould I seal or not seal off the cpu when I build my oil cooled computer?
yes the fans will help with cooling by circulating the oil around Report Abuse

  • Is it possible that the crank seal oil leak is related to changing timing chain in my 03 Nissan Micra?

I had my timing chain replaced in August; following a few probs stalling when cold. At the time I was told that the timing chain had broken.

My car has been leaking oil ever since. The leak was noticed %26amp; reported within a month of the work being completed.

I have taken the car back for oil consumption tests a couple of times and carry a bottle of oil in the car with me these days.

On Saturday my car failed it's NCT/MOT as a result of an oil leak on .

The garage are now forced to rectify this ongoing problem and are now saying that it is a crank oil seal leak; which is entirely separate to work done while replacing timing chain.

The original work cost an arm and a leg and I can't afford further expense; especially if it is as a result of poor workmanship.

Does anyone out there have any bright ideas please? Is it possible that the crank seal oil leak is related to changing timing chain in my 03 Nissan Micra?
yes it is possible because they had to remove the cover ,and may not have got it sealed back up good, they are responsible for it to not leak since they did the work on it,so id take it back and see if they would offer to repair it,those two problems can be related though, that seal should have been replaced when they did the chain on it,a good repair shop always replaces the seals, whether it needs it at the time or not,so they should repair this one at their cost, not yours, good luck with it.Is it possible that the crank seal oil leak is related to changing timing chain in my 03 Nissan Micra?
i hope you get all this worked out with them, its a shame they didn't do it right to begin with.good luck. Report Abuse

if the timing chain was replaced then thy should have fitted a new oil seal as it is situated in the timing cover and once disturbed it needs to be renewed and you could not have had a broken timing chain as it would have damaged your engine bent valves etc you have been had by the garage
Could be that when the chain broke, the main bearing was damaged and caused the seal to go bad.If the timing belt or chain was not changed at a specific mileage that was recommended in the maintenance manuel it could be your fault and not your mechanic, however if he beat on the shaft with to great of force he could of caused the damage.Replace the seal and go forward is my recomendation.Without proof you pay.
If your timing chain was broken the engine would not run at all.

If the timing chain was loose or worn it would have nothing to do with a stalling problem, the engine would just sound a bit noisy.

I suggest you go to your local car accessory shop and buy a can of engine oil seal repair, add it to your engine oil and see what happens.

Go for a quality brand, Millers, STP, Wynns etc.

    Good luck!
The crankshaft oil seal should of been replaced along with the timing chain as a matter of procedure. But this will be pretty to argue about.Check your reciept it will be covered under parts .

It is ether the rear main seal or the have a main seal housing, that goes onto the rear of the block and then the seal drives in that instead of the block and rear main. Can you see the main seal going around the crankshaft behind the flywheel? Cause that seal is alot impossible to see the condition without dropping the crank or pulling the seal.

I have an enormusly high oil pressure on my 99 tahoe. it blows passed the oil filter seal. why??????????

recently, i over heated the motor, fortunately i didn't roast any gaskets. i replaced the water pump, and thermostatI have an enormusly high oil pressure on my 99 tahoe. it blows passed the oil filter seal. why??????????
You could have a compression leak. Bad news...

Are you sure the pressure's high, it's the correct oil filter and it's installed correctly? Could be a defective oil filter. I'd try a new oil filter first and a compression test second.I have an enormusly high oil pressure on my 99 tahoe. it blows passed the oil filter seal. why??????????
Do you have an actual oil pressure guage on your dash that is reading high? Or have you hooked up a manual guage? If so, about the only thing that will cause abnormaly high oil pressure is that the pump relief valve is not opening correctly. If not, as mentioned above, a bad filter gasket or wrong filter could be the problem. Excessive crankcase pressure-plugged pcv valve or breathers, compression leaking past the rings, etc. may force oil past crankcase seals or other gaskets but won't cause the oil filter gasket to leak.
Ok, your pressure reliefe valve may be bad and the pressure may be high.

Second, what's the oil pressure gauge saying?

Could it be that you or somebody changed the oil and you left the old gasket on there, installed the new filter and now have a double gasket and that's why the oil is coming out.
Oil Level is Way to High! Area wasn't Clean when Filter was Installed, Cracked Seal! Incorrect Oil Filter!! Oil System needs to Be Flushed!!!

Oil to High will cause Oil to Aerate and/or Blow Out through Seals. Oil Filter Seal Can Crack when being Installed. Dirt in Oil Galleys Will Cause Excessive Pressure.
I remember reading in a car manual (Holden Camira 1982) that this can happen if a breather valve is blocked up. This valve comes out of the rocker cover at the top of the motor.

The manuel recommended to soak the valve in petrol and clean it out thoroughly. Then reinstall.

This valve on my car was just clamped inline with the breather rubber hose coming from the top of the engine and took about one minute to remove.

The breather is necessary to equalize pressure between the top and bottom sections of the motor as pistons move, and/or slight compression gasses passes rings.

Maybe could be your problem but wouldn't hurt you to check.
    you blew that oil pump!!!!!

the easiest way, is get a air compressor and take out the spark plug, screw the tip of the compressor hose into the plug hole, run the compressor up to about 40 to 50 lbs, take off the rocker and then the keepers, that hold the valve, and change the seal. the air from the compressor will keep the valve from dropping down. after you changed the seal, put the keepers back in, then the rocker. after you get the rocker on, then you can release the air. take the air hose out of the plug hole and put the plug back in, adjust the rocker, and install the valve pan.How to change corolla 1990 valve stem oil seal? easiest way?

  • Could a blown valve seal, and or a blown head gasket cause a drop in oil pressure?

A valve seal would have no effect on the oil pressure. You may notice a consumption of oil %26amp; blue smoke.

A head gasket could cause low oil pressure, but you would find your cooling system full of goop or there would be a horrendous cloud of smoke trailing your car.

The most likely cause is the bearings are scored leading to loss of pressure.Could a blown valve seal, and or a blown head gasket cause a drop in oil pressure?
Neither of those things would cause a drop in oil pressure. Most likely the problem is the oil pressure sending unit going bad%26gt;Could a blown valve seal, and or a blown head gasket cause a drop in oil pressure?
Machine your crankshaft and replace the connecting rod bearings with the size to which the crankshaft has been machined down. You will regain the oil pressure.

Blown valve seal and blown head gasket will create other symptoms of which oil pressure drop would be the least of them.
no ..your oil pump might be trash or your bearings are trashed
valve seal no... head gasket unlikely though some engines do have oil under pressure through the gasket.. most common is too much bearing clearence..

The bearing and connecting rod kit is for rebuilding your crankshaft, instead of buying a new one.

The seal kit has all the seals used on the engine (shift shaft, counter shaft, kick start), so you don't have to buy them individually when rebuilding the engine.

As for the other stuff, using an engine harder, will always ware it out faster. You bike is so old, it's a collectors item. Be gentle to it.

    Rear Main Oil Seal question?

    I have a 2000 Town %26amp; Country minivan. 3.8L v-6

It developed a very large oil leak, which i thought was the Rear Main Oil Seal. But after going to a few forums and talking to Dodge techs.

I think its the Oil Pan.

But now the Large leak has stoped! good right?!

The question is, once the RMOS is leaking does it ever stop?Rear Main Oil Seal question?
I never knew going to forums could diagnose oil leaks on any vehicle ever made. Thats awesome. I'd use a little bit of common sense here and take it to a reputable shop and have it checked by a pro. If the oil leak is not that obvious, then they can add some dye to the oil to determine where it beez leakingsRear Main Oil Seal question?
A Rear main oil seal will not likely just ';stop'; leaking. Even with the use of all those voo-doo stop leak products, it will still leak. Usually it's a crack in the rubber, and nothing but a chunk of goo will seal it up. Get under there and wash off all the oil. Then crank it up and lay under there to see exactly where the leak is. If you drive it around, it'll blow everywhere and you'll never find the real cause. Good luck.
They usually don't heal themselves, but sometimes a leak stop will work. These usually contain a solvent like lacquer thinner ot xylene to make the seal swell. Unfortunately, they make the rest of the seals in contact with crankcase oil swell, also.
wel most of Time when a oil leak stops mean there is no oil left to drip out sorry they do not repair them selves an dmost of time oil pan will leak before seal does

I need a drive shaft oil seal for a 1994 austin mastro?

They are readily available still from former Rover dealers, such as Wycliffe at Stroud and Gloucester, but 1275 cc and 1600cc petrol and 1994 cc diesel use different gearboxes and there are differences between turbo and non turbo driveshafts which may mean turbo and non turbo boxes are different, Left and right hand seals are also different on the 1994 cc box as I remember it.

Sadly apart from ham fisted fitting of driveshafts, the main cause of seal failure is wear of the bearings which support the inner end of the driveshafts, so if there is significant up and down play of the inner ';Pot'; joints you need a gearbox not just the seals.I need a drive shaft oil seal for a 1994 austin mastro?

two possible answers come to mind . 1st are blown compression rings as well as the oil rings second the rocker breathers are not set up right and the engine is sucking oil vapor into the intake excessively. you should have a pcv valve on one cover and a straight fitting the other. the straight fitting goes to the air cleaner base just after the air filter. this is the fresh port for the engine. the other side has the pcv and is run to either the back port on the carb at the base or to the intake manifold. if you should run a pcv and not have a fresh port the pcv would suck up oil a lot. Ive seen plugged up fresh ports in the air cleaner cause the same problem. did you change your spark plugs or try to clean them? oil often wont clean off the inside of a spark plug and your not going to run. www.mycarandineedhelp.com its free and its me if I can be of any more assistance.I had oil in my spark plug cyclinders i changed the valve cover gasket and oil seals and it wont start?
Are the spark plug wires on the correct plugs?

Take another look at what else you may have disconnected/unplugged while you were doing the job.

EDIT: Piston rings? PCV? From his description, I'm thinking he had oil down the spark plug tunnels in the valve cover, and changed the valve cover gasket and the o-ring seals on the tunnels.I had oil in my spark plug cyclinders i changed the valve cover gasket and oil seals and it wont start?
did you hook up all the wires to the spark plugs?
Could be an issue with the piston rings. Sometimes if the oil gets old it will blow-by, or, if the rings are old it will let the oil in past the rings. Check for scoring in the cylinder walls.

How to know if its Valve Stem Oil Seals or Piston Rings?

My car blows blue smoke when its been idle for a while then it stops while im driving...How do i figure out which one it needs. I know I have a real main seal leak but that wouldn't cause blue exsaust smoke would it?? I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse with 187 miles...Mainly highway miles. How to know if its Valve Stem Oil Seals or Piston Rings?
    1. Your car does not have valve sem seals. Even if seals were installed it would not fix the real problem. Blue smoke out the back on deceleration and when you first start the car means the valve guide clearance is loose. The clearance between the valve stems and the valve guide is usually .001 -.0015 on the intake valves and .0015 -.0017 on the exhaust valves. If the car does not use an unusual amount of oil or foul spark plugs don't bother with the expensive valve guide replacement repair. If you use more than a quart of oil per 1000 miles and the car is in otherwise good shape get it fixed by an independant mechanic. It'll take some outside machine work to drill oversize all the valve guides and new ones pressed in place. This job also requires re-grinding the valves and seats for a perfect valve seal.

Piston ring problems usually cause blue smoke 100% of the time while driving the car.

A dry compression test will tell if the rings are bad. The second test involves a shot of motor oil in a the spark plug hole being tested. If the compression goes up there is a valve problem. If it stays down it's a ring problem. How to know if its Valve Stem Oil Seals or Piston Rings?
    comment on above answer....

that is all true except the last part: if u squirt oil into the cylinder %26amp; do the compression test again, if the compression goes up, it shows a ring problem, not a valve problem. And if it doesnt go up after u squirt oil in it, it's either super worn rings or bad valve Report Abuse

sounds like valve seals, but you could test the compression on each of the cylinders to see if you have loss of compression, (rings) And your right, the rear main seal wouldnt cause that....... you can get a compression tester anywhere, even wal mart!
you could get a compression test.

A good mechanic can figure it out.

Most likely the oil is pooling in the valve cover and its dripping thru the valves worn rubber seals.
Rings smoke all time usually more on acceleration. Valve seals smoke worst on 1st start up.

if it only smokes when you start it up it is bad valve seals, with that many miles on the engine the whole engine needs redone.
with 187,00 miles my guess is the engine is tired and needs to be replaced or rebuilt.

Go back to the Dealer and scream till they fix it under warranty. That is so crappy but very common as they put the seal in wrong at the factory. We have seen hundred of these at every shop. You don't just tap one in and expect it to hold. There is a special procedure after all these failures!

unless you have a loose bolt (not very likely) then you're in for spending a lot of money. there is no fix other than replacement. none of the stop leak stuff will help you.
it may still be under warranty on that one,if its not covered that will cost about 500 to repair at the least you can get it done for, they have to pull the transmission to replace this, its a good little job on that one,but its not going to cost thousands to replace, some shops prices will be different but don't pay no more than 700 at the most for parts and labor, good luck with it,and have a good new years.
Rear main seals arent terribly expensive... 10 bucks maybe..

if you're mechanically inclined.. pull the engine. repair it your self.

The ONLY way to change a rear main seal is to remove the transmission which requires removing suspension, axles, exhaust, wiring.... it's around $500 to change a $10 seal :(

Not only that, but these cars are known for a condition called ';crank walk'; which is probably why yours is leaking...

http://www.google.com/search?q=eclipse+c鈥?/a>1994 eagle talon...oil is oozing out from behind the motor as car is running could this be main bearing seal?
Make sure the valve cover isn't leaking down the back of the motor and giving you the impression its the main seal, also, if it has a turbo, there is an oil line going to it. That can leak as well. Rule out everything before suspecting the worse! Good luck!
It is likely the rear main seal. The cheapest way to fix it is to remove the transmission and flywheel and replace the seal.
I agree with the main rear seal, but you have a 1.8 L engine. The 2.0 liter engine is the one that is susceptible to ';crank wall';.

most warranty have a ';seals and gaskets'; clause, if it is fairly new and you still have warranty coverage im sure it will be covered. make sure you are putting oil in your engine frequently even if its leaks you cant run that car without oil it will mess up your engine, so try to keep some oil in it until you get it fixed

What is the function of an oil seal???

what is the function of an oil seal in an automobile???.... also would be highly delighted to know its applications in any other mechanical field.....What is the function of an oil seal???
to keep oil where it's supposed to be

    i.e. oil seals

O'rings in an engine are generally attached around the shafts entering the engine gearbox preventing oil leaking out of the gearbox. Generally if you see an oil stain on your drive it's usually an oil seal which has gone.

Head gaskets are shaped to the profile of the cylinder head permitting engine cooling and assembly of the injectors or valves.

Piston rings prevent the similar permitting petrol to combust without cross contamination with oil.

Every part of your car's moving points i.e. wheels, engine parts, brakes system etc needs lubricants or non compressable fluids to help them operateWhat is the function of an oil seal???
Oil seals ( in your motor ) keep oil in where it's supposed to be , not leaking . The wheels have the same but are grease seals. You also have seals in the rear end, transmission, and muffler bearings .
Duh, oil, and seal, what do you think those 2 words in that combination would possibly mean? In your application of these 2 words, would ';seal'; possible mean an open drain for oil? How about a fitting that oil flows through. Still not right, gee wiz, what could it possibly mean, oil and seal used together? I know, it's something used to let oil out. Why on earth would anyone want to keep oil in an engine, or a transmission?

Oil seal, it is a cork, or rubber device of some kind that is used between to mating surfaces to keep oil in the engine. I guess that you might be clueless about engines in general. Yes, there are many industrial applications for seals of many different applications. Even the plumbing in your house uses seals to keep water from getting out of them where it would not be convenient to have the water leave the pipe. There is a seal, although it is composed of wax, that seals the toilet to the drain pipe it sits on top of to keep water and human waste from getting out and covering the floor.

You can, but you need to keep it at a low setting, just in case.

:-)Is it okay to leave a sealed oil filled heater on while you not at home for 9 hours?
yes you can as there is no naked flame but as advised by other comments keep away from furniture or clothing and fit a timer switch as advised,i think 9 hours is a long time maybe it depends on whether you live in the country or town, maybe switching on for say 3 hours and off for 3hours and back on again before you arrive home.

It's not all that hard, first remove the cover on the sproket(you may have to remove the shifter too) then remove the sproket and spacers/sleeves. Then all you do is GENTLY pry the seal out with a punch or screwdriver then drive the new seal(lip in!) with a socket or the like and re-assemble! Thats it! this and a little common sense and you should be OK. good luck,Mark

Rear main oil seal needs repaired on a 1994 Cadillac Seville STS, can anyone explain the procedure? and cost?

Hey,Jrock..Before you get suicidal over this,go to the auto parts store and ask them for an additive to put in the engine oil to prevent main seal leaks.I've used them in the past with great results at times. They swell the rubber seals, making them fit tightly again. My favorite is called Main-Sta,but there are others that work as well.Rear main oil seal needs repaired on a 1994 Cadillac Seville STS, can anyone explain the procedure? and cost?
Don't know your model of car. I suspect it is front-wheel-drive. On a rear-wheel, the driveshaft, the transmission, and clutch drop. A hooked flanged tool pulls the old seal out, and another special tool fits into the doughnut hole of the new seal so you can hammer it in straight. On a Chevy pickup (rear-wheel-drive), the costs is under $150 at the garage. With a FWD, they have to remove a drive chain that rotates the front axle. Compare that to a Mercedes, which uses needle-bearings. A Mercedes, they pull the engine block to bench press the crankshaft out one direction, flip the block, press the crankshaft out the other direction. About $5,000. Some of that cost is the name of the car, besides that they use needle bearings. Caddys have a padded repair and parts prices.Rear main oil seal needs repaired on a 1994 Cadillac Seville STS, can anyone explain the procedure? and cost?
you have to pull the trans, torque converter+ flex plate. there is a plate mounted to the block that holds in the old seal. Pull the plate, change the seal, and reassemble. Good Luck

My Dune Buggy has an oil leak at the transmission seal how much will it cost to repair?

it leaks oil at the transmission seal where the drive axle bolts upMy Dune Buggy has an oil leak at the transmission seal how much will it cost to repair?
Do it your self. I am assuming it is a vw based buggy. Pull the axle at the CV (the metal piece covered by the black cone shaped rubber piece). You will need to slide the boot down the axle if it is in your way. There are a bunch of bolts that go around the CV that need to come out. Once you remove them, pull the axle out of your way. There is a flange that the axle CV was bolted to. It will pop out of the trans-axle case with a big screwdriver or pry bar. Once it is out, you can pull the axle seal out with a screwdriver. Take the seal to an auto parts store and buy a new one ($5 or so). Pound it back in by lightly tapping it in a circular motion with hammer. Slide the drive flange back into it's place and tap back in with a hammer. Put the CV back in place and bolt it back up. It is an easy job that you can do on your own with minimal tools and ability. If oil drips out of the trans-axle, refill it at the 17mm hex head fill plug on the side of the case.

If your fork seals are leaking then it's time to replace them. You should change the seals on both forks while your at it. The process is relatively simple and inexpensive. Most oil seals and dust wiper seals come in packs. You'll also need fork oil and a fork seal driver (however, you can make your own out of PVC pipe and a rubber mallet.) You're looking at about 80-100 bucks worth of supplies, maybe cheaper. You have to remove the from wheel and take the fork tubes off the bike so you might want to look into getting a service manual for your bike to help you through the process (it will also tell you how much fork oil you will need to put back in the tubes since most bikes are different.)

  • Oil Seal/ Oil Pan?

I went to Wal Mart today for an oil change and they turned me away because they said something having to do with my oil seal/ oil pan was faulty. Can anyone enlighten me and offer advice as to what type of place or mechanic to take it to.Oil Seal/ Oil Pan?
I suspect what they were talking about was the gasket that seals the oil pan to the engine block. If that is the case, you might be able to tighten the bolts that hold it in place. Other wise, it isn't to major of a repair, especially if your car is front wheel drive. Any engine repair shop can do the repair, and if they want more than $100.00, I'd go somewhere else!Oil Seal/ Oil Pan?
Terry is correct about the pan gasket. But, if it's a front or rear crank seal leaking, according to the type of car you have, replacement of the seals could get costly. Most, if not all engines, made in the last ten years or so, have one piece rear seals that require either the transmission or engine be removed,(or at least separated) to replace it. I suggest you take it to a reputable local shop and have it looked at. It may be something as simple as a oil pressure sensor leaking down onto the seal or pan. Cost: maybe 30 bucks. And like going to a doctor, always get a second opinion.

  • My brother bought me baby seal oil from Norway. Is this really healthy? Do people drink the oils of baby seals

I honestly don't know if it's healthy, but I will tell you that I personally think it's cruel.

From a scientific standpoint though, the oils and fats found in animals largely tend to be in the form of triglycerides, which is the type of fat that jiggles on your stomach. Eating this type of fat is, predictably, not beneficial to one's health. But I can't speak specifically about baby seal oil, just in more general terms. You'd be much better off consuming moderate amounts of seeds and nuts, which contain oils which are much healthier for you.

This will be a dumb comment,,,(making it Ideal for Yahoo Answers,,right ?,,LOL)

Seriously,,my appologies if it's just Too Dumb.

Ok,,I assume you are reffering to the Crankshaft Seal,,,that goes behind the Ignition trigger plate?

If so,,,does it seem as if it's ';TOO LARGE'; ,,,

way too large to go in that hole?

On XS 750 %26amp; 850's the seal is installed from the INSIDE..

Each end Crank Seal ,,L %26amp; R ,,,is mounted in a removable cover

Your 850 has a L/H CRANKCASE COVER which must be removed.

That cover is what the Ignition Plate is mounted to,,,

and is what has the actual Crankshaft Oil Seal bore where the crank seal is installed.

You'll need a Paper Gasket also for the cover to get it all back together.

All the igntion stuff must be removed---Including Ignition advance unit (It's the smaller Center bolt screwed into end of crankshaft)

The ';Big Nut'; surrounding the center bolt is ';nothing'; as far as assembly---it's just a convenient Grip to turn crank with a wrench.

Do NOT try to ';unscrew'; the big nut,,it will break something.

It's NOT really a actual NUT.

Be Careful removing the cover---it can be very tight.

It's got Dowel Pins to align the cover and they are very tight.

    They're positioned about ';9 or 10 O'clock'; and about 2~3 O'clock .

Gentle tapping /pulling/prying is about only way,,,,and Care %26amp; Patience..

Inevitable instinct to ';Wedge a Screwdriver'; between the parts and pry them-----Be VERY careful not to damage gasket surface.

Best to use a putty scraper type blade,,or thin blade knife if you must.

Use only very small increments of lift as it begins to separate.

Work it off Gradually while alternating efforts between Left/right side.

The seals are Tight,,,keep in mind it comes Out of the cover towards INSIDE of engine.

It's obvious once you get the cover off.
    gdwrnch 40 is correct
The round cover that has ';YAMAHA'; written on it, is bolted to the cover which ';has to be removed'; from the engine. The seal is installed/removed from the inside of that cover.

An oil seal pump is a small pump that pressurizes and circulates oil to the seals on a much larger pump. Typically these are high pressure pumps that feed into a high pressure reactor or catalyst vessel.
Pump is used to pressurise a mechanical seal on a rotating shaft such as a reactor or dryer agitator
They are also used on some centrifugal compressors for the shaft seals.

Seals just tend to go bad over time and your vehicle is 11 years old and it's not out of the ordinary for it to be leaking.

I don't think the hot climate in Miami caused the problem but in some vehicles it's a good idea to add an extra trans cooler to keep the fluids cooler. If the fluid gets hot it can force the fluid out especially when you put the vehicle under any kind of strain, like towing etc.

The follwoing site seems as if it will provide you with the information thatyou seek. Hope it helps!

Please provide me reasosns what will happen to the compressor if contaminated seal oil is still being used.?

If the seal oil is contaminated, the seal will wear. For example, if there's grit in the oil, the grit will get stuck between the seal and the cylinder or shaft. Then it will slowly grind the metal away. As it grinds, the seal will leak more and more. One little bit of grit won't cause a problem, but the more grit, the more wear and the sooner the compressor loses efficiency. Same with acid contamination - except the pitting will be chemically caused. Please provide me reasosns what will happen to the compressor if contaminated seal oil is still being used.?
It will wear it out eventually. My compressor did not require frequent changes. The reasons are the same economics for changing the oil in anything.

Chicken used to be succulent but with the modern obsession for ';low fat'; together with ';growth enhancers'; it tastes like cardboard.

Are you tired of cooking chicken breasts and ending up with them dry and tough? I was, so I did some research and here鈥檚 a secret鈥?

Chicken breasts like to be soaked in brine, it keeps them moist when cooking.

Easy to do! Mix 3T salt and 2T sugar in 4 cups of cool water. When properly dissolved, add your meat and allow it to soak in the fridge for an hour.

Get creative, you can add all sorts of flavours to your brine and they鈥檒l be absorbed into your meat.

Just make sure you rinse your meat well before cooking to get rid of the extra salt.

';Can olive oil be used to replace butter and margarine in recipes?

Yes! Butter and margarine have a pleasant taste, and there are certain uses of butter and margarine for which there is no satisfactory replacement in the American Diet--buttered toast at breakfast comes to mind. Extra Virgin Olive Oil has been described as ';buttery'; by many consumers in taste tests. Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be used in place of butter or margarine in many recipes, such as on vegetables, rice, potatoes, and--yes--even corn on the cob.

How does olive oil compare with butter or margarine?

Butter and margarine are essentially fats like cooking oils. A tablespoon of ordinary butter contains twelve grams of fat, of which 8 grams (66%) are saturated fat. In addition, a serving of butter contains 33 mgs of cholesterol.

    Saturated fat and cholesterol have been linked to increased levels of low density lipoproteins (LDLs)--the ';bad cholesterol.'; Thus, compared to butter, a serving of olive oil contains much less saturated fat (only 2 grams) and no cholesterol. The comparison with margarine is more difficult because the fat breakdown in margarines varies by manufacturer and ingredient. Margarine typically contains approximately 10 grams of fat per tablespoon. However, to solidify the vegetable oils used to make margarine, the oils have to be hydrogenized. In the hydrogenization process, trans fatty acids are created. Trans fatty acids have a double whammy effect of increasing LDLs and lowering the high density lipoproteins (HDLs)--the ';good cholesterol'; (see discussion of health issues in last chapter of this booklet).';
yes, the oil and butter will do almost the same thing all together. Olive oil is lighter and has a cleaner taste and is much better for you but either will work. vegetable oil will also work for that matter.

    good luck.
Yes, but the olive oil adds a different flavor altogether.
    yes you can
yes, but the butter would slightly change the flavor and add more fat.

    You ask this question before?

My 2000 honda prelude blew out a oil cooler seal the mech. says change time belt to cuz its wet now doi really

Yes you do have to, when oil and grease get on a belt it weakens it, I know first hand. If it affected your timing belt I would definitely change it due to most Honda's being dual overhead cam DOHC, if that belt breaks you will more than likely end up bending a valve and / or punching a piston. That will cost a lot more money than the replacement of that belt. Get it done

CSIRO research showed that omega-3 fatty acids protect against heart rhythm disorders and has benefits for blood clotting and blood vessel function.

I was told I have a rear main seal leak, but you cant see oil on the driveway or any where. Whats that mean?

Your right usually where a rear main leaks it's all over the ground and the whole underneith of the car. It may be leaking from somewhere elseI was told I have a rear main seal leak, but you cant see oil on the driveway or any where. Whats that mean?
A rear main will generally only leak while the engine is running and the oil is circulating.

Maybe someone was mistaken or misdiagnosed it?I was told I have a rear main seal leak, but you cant see oil on the driveway or any where. Whats that mean?
Well the only thing for sure is that you were low on oil. The rest is his opinion.

The rear main is located at the back of the engine and seals the crankshaft to the engine block. It is located between the flywheel and the engine. When it goes south, oil seeps thru the seal and is spun around on the flywheel. A lot of the oil is then thrown off while the car is moving but.....When the engine stops the oil usually runs down and drips off the flywheel and into the transmission housing cover.. from there it drips on the ground.

Ok.. given THAT background and the fact that the oil doesnt just disapear, I would question the oil guys diagnosis if you are not finding any oil spots.

But check him... park the car hot and slip a piece of cardboard under it. Check the cardboard the next day for drips..

Meantime check your oil very frequently. If you drive the car without oil, a leaky rear main is the least of the problems you are going to face.

    .
look under your car is there any signs of fresh oil? if not some one is blowing smoke up you a!!,if your concerned take it to a recommended shop or dealer to get it checked out.and don,t tell them what the first guy told you.let them tell you what is or is not wrong
That means you don't need to worry about it in my opinion. All oil seals leak to some extent, it's just a matter of how bad they're leaking!
When oil leaks it leaks on the ground.

So where does he say it is going? and who is he? Cause he is not making any sense to me.
well would you listen to the eye doctor if he told you that you needed foot surgery, no. well than you shouldn't believe everything that a man who does nothing all day but change oil tell you whats wrong with your engine. It could be the rear main but there is a hundred places that could be leaking oil. You should take it to a qualified auto shop and ask them to give you a second opinion.
    Ok,

For starters, and your sanity, you need to get down under the car and take a peek yourself.

You say rear main seal 鈥?; but on what. The motor, transmission or drive line.

On the motor, you need to look upwards and see if there is dampness (wet oil) between the motor and transmission.

On the transmission, again , get under and look at the end of the transmission and where the driveshaft connects. Look for wetness.

On the driveline follow the driveshaft to the rear axle and look for the round gear box (shaped like a pumpkin 鈥?hence the name pumpkin gears) and again look for wetness.

Oh, you have no clue what I鈥檓 talking about!

Take your car to someone that you know (who has some knowledge of autos). Ask them to check out the underside for you. Just mention to them that you saw a few drops of oil on the ground where you parked in a lot, (not your driveway) and am concerned. If they get under and say they see wetness or dampness, take it to a repair shop.

Motor - rear main seal replacement can go into a few hundred dollars.

Transmission seals 鈥?again depending on the make and model of auto can hit a few hundred.

Rear driveline - seal is the cheapest, just around a hundred.

Seals when they fail, can just leak under movement of the auto. Therefore, you may not see oil leaking on the ground. It gets blown under the car as you drive. There by, as I stated above, someone needs to get under the auto and check it out for wetness.

    Good luck.

Does engen oil help seal the combustion chamber?

Yes and no, There is a wiper ring on the piston that is the third or fourth ring on the piston as the piston goes up oil is sprayed on the cylinder wall, then when the piston is coming down the wiper ring removes excess oil and this helps seal the combustion chamber along with the other two or three ringsDoes engen oil help seal the combustion chamber?

My main seal is leaking or its my oil pan... In any event - DO those stop leak products work?

Please advise on what kind works best? ThanksMy main seal is leaking or its my oil pan... In any event - DO those stop leak products work?
short answer is no. they just make eveything worse by plugging up the oil gallery. My main seal is leaking or its my oil pan... In any event - DO those stop leak products work?
First and the easiest is to re-torque the bolts on the oil pan and check the torque on the valve cover gaskets or valley cover. If that doesn't stop it and it looks like the oil pan replace the oil pan gasket and check the main seal. Now if the car is 100 thousand plus or the manufacture has a history of bad main seals, then replace it. I would go to a few places that will give you a FREE estimate and see which advice you agree with. ASK FOR A FREE ESTIMATE!! Do not let them take it apart then give you the estimate. Up on the rack they should be able to see where the leak is from.
Any temporary fix is just that, temporary. Stop leak products work by ';swelling'; a dried out gasket. They will only work until the gasket itself deteriorates. You are better off in the long run by replacing the gasket and/or seals and be done with it.
not on something like that it dont, theres alot of pressure on those seals and it will blow the sealer right out. best thing to do is drop the oil pan and change the seal and oil pan gasket.
    NO! NO! NO!

Your wasteing your time and money on stop leaks.

They might work just long enough to sell the car and then the leak comes back.

    Been there done that.

DO THE RIGHT THING FIRST AND IT WILL NOT BOTHER DOWN THE ROAD. IM SURE YOUR TIME IS VALUABLE!

If it stops the leak at all it'll start leaking again.Stop leak works by softening up the seal. It goes on and wears out more and leaks worse.

Get a new clutch when you have the seal replaced. If Auto, just fix the leak.My rear seal of my engine is leaking a slow leak! Somebody know if Lucas stop oil leak work or my engine?
I've never liked any of the stop leak products. They work by swelling and thereby softening the seals. You'll be replacing that seal sooner or later. So just do it right and have the rear main seal replaced. Then you won't have to worry about it again for however many miles it took it to start leaking the first time.
I don't trust any of the goop they sell for seals leaking, I ALWAYS end up changing the seals anyway. If it clogs up seals what do you think it does to your oil channels inside your engine.
It might slow it down for a while, but bottom line is sooner or later you'll need to have the rear main seal replaced to actually fix the problem.

    good luck
slight chance but would be worth a shot what it does is make gasket swell sometime it works some times it dont
i doubt it. there is a lot of pressure back there.

One, your mechanic is resealing the tube cheap.

If you do not do this, oil builds up in the tube causing miss fires and deteriorate the plug wire ends.Spark Plug Tube Seal - What harm comes from oil on plug?
Engine oil or dust and dirt, plus heat can produce carbon.

Carbon conducts electricity pretty well. It is sometimes used for that in motor brushes, or even spark plug cables.

Hot engine + oil or puddle splash + road dust and dirt = ignition ';juice'; shorted to the block = no spark, or weak spark in the cylinder = poor performance at best.

My Grand Cherokee's transmission oil pan will not keep a seal, any ideas on what can I do?

I have the 42 RE transmission, I think that it is a clogged vent or something, I have already put on a new pan, new gaskets, and have tried almost every transmission oil additive that would supposedly be a magic fix it. Any ideas on the vent or what else could be wrong? My Grand Cherokee's transmission oil pan will not keep a seal, any ideas on what can I do?
I think the vent theory isn't going to get you far. Silicone shouldn't be needed with a gasket. It is possible (seen it a lot) that you have a tiny crack in the actual transmission case, near the pan. These cracks can be hard to see %26amp; find, and I have seen plenty of seasoned techs chase their tails over problems like yours! You might look for an inexpensive leak detection kit; it comes with dye and a UV light, to see where it's leaking from.My Grand Cherokee's transmission oil pan will not keep a seal, any ideas on what can I do?
Short of dropping the pan again, there's nothing you can do.

    No ';magic bullet';.

Next time you drop the pan, take the time to fix the bolt holes in the pan.

Over tightening bolts tends to put dimples in the pan, and the remaining sealing surfaces can't make good contact with the botom of the tranny.

Use a block of wood and ball peen hammer to fix all the warped bolt holes in the pan.

Then, when tightening the bolts after reinstalling the pan, DON'T over tighten them.

They should be pretty snug, NOT tight.
Have you replaced the rear seal of the crank? You should have done this when the pan was dropped. It's a two piece round seal that normally wears 140k+ especially in jeeps. Seal needs to be oiled before install. Then reinstall the pan with clean/oil free surface on the bottom of block. I think you have to drop the front suspension to change seals on Cherokees.
before you put the seal in are you oiling up the seal lip first? if you don,t oil the seal then you will have a dry start up and it will tear up the seal. or are you getting the seal in straight?
Check with NPR '; Car Talk'; those two gentleman no everything about cars. Hope this helps.
try using a caulking compound on the outside to seal it......NEVER put anything inside a tranny except tranny fluid.
silicone .. drop the pan ... put silicone around it .. and slap it back on .... jeep sux .. ive owned a few .

You can cook with white babby seal oil too. Mmmmmm, what I wouldn't give for some California Condor or American Bald Eagle scrambled eggs, cooked over an open, old growth Sequoia wood fire right about now.

    *drool*
And sheep's wool. For the perfect shine, you have to use fresh sheep's wool. You have to get on all 4 and scrub that wool hard. And don't be afraid to use both sides, because you want to rub it in deep. After all the pushing on that wool, that wood should just be glowing.
I dip my feet in olive oil and lube and use that to keep my floors shiny, pretty and clean.

Plus, when I drop to the floor to make sweet love (to you) the lube is already there for the taking.

    Yummalicious.
Lanolin (sheep grease) is much better. And it's in most skin conditioners too.*my, you look so nice %26amp; healthy, can't wait to rub you over my floors*.
    i don't know but i wouldn't be surprised

    :(
yup, babby seal oil is good for oh so many things

I am glad they have not learned to frigth back

  • Why the eskimo who eat mainly fish, seal oil and whale maet rather than beef and butter have a low incidence o

I think it would be because fish, seal and wheel are easier to get compared to beef and butter. Other than that, it might already be thier lifestyle of eating like that. It is like you cannot force an American to eat rice everyday.

I hope this helps. :)Why the eskimo who eat mainly fish, seal oil and whale maet rather than beef and butter have a low incidence o

How do i change a main oil seal for a 1988 dodge caravan?

i need step by step instrutionsHow do i change a main oil seal for a 1988 dodge caravan?
main seals are difficult to change at best. There is a front and rear main seal. The front seal involves removing everything to get behind the timing belt/chain and removing and replacing the seal. The real main seal is located on the other end of the engine.. You gotta remove the transmission to get to it. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are very mechanically adept and have a good box full of tools. How do i change a main oil seal for a 1988 dodge caravan?
You'll need a manual for that. Far too involved to go into here. Also depends upon which main oil seal as there are two.
    What engine do you have?

I just replaced my oil pan gasket and rear main seal. Should I use the old engine oil to clean the engine out?

I replaced the seals, but there is a minimal amount of debris left over from the old oil pan gasket (I did my best the get most of it out - there is very very little left). Should I run the old oil I drained (has ~2500 miles in it) temporarily to clean things out just in case? OR should I just not worry about it and fill it with fresh oil?

ThanksI just replaced my oil pan gasket and rear main seal. Should I use the old engine oil to clean the engine out?
If you fear that you disturbed some crap and left it in the pan and your old oil is clean, it would be OK to do that. The main component here is the oil filter. Run the car a few miles and replace the filter. The oil is really secondary as a precaution against debris. The oil will function as a vehicle to carry any dirt to the filter where the filter will remove it from the oil.

FYI, when you had the pan off, there was really no reason not to put it back squeaky clean.

    IMHO, of course.

you mean there is still sludge in the oil pan? kerosene will work better then oil.

My 94 toyota tercel leaks oil and oil smoke comes from front left spark plug. a camshaft or crankshaft seal?

I can disconnect the front left plug and the smoking stops but there is still an oil leak coming from the rear passenger side of the block. Please help anybody! My 94 toyota tercel leaks oil and oil smoke comes from front left spark plug. a camshaft or crankshaft seal?
It's not the crank seal. My guess is that it's the valve cover gasket and it's leaking onto the spark plug, which is hot enough to make the oil smoke a little, but is not a problem by itself.

    Hope this helps.

My chevy truck blown rear seal. Can all that oil cause an auto trans to slip? will the oil pressure fluctiate?

as both the other people said - this will NOT cause the transmission to slip ...

Yes and No with the fluctuating oil pressure, it depends on how bad the leak is. Without seeing the truck, no one can give you a reasonable answer. My chevy truck blown rear seal. Can all that oil cause an auto trans to slip? will the oil pressure fluctiate?
It will not cause the automatic to slip. The seal will let engine oil leak out.

You oil pressure will fluctuate if the oil level gets too low.My chevy truck blown rear seal. Can all that oil cause an auto trans to slip? will the oil pressure fluctiate?
NO, the transmission is a sealed unit.I would change the oil pressure sending unit. The rear main leaking would not make it fluctiate

  • I have taken my truck in to replace my clutch. the mech suggested I replace my oil seal now my truck leaks ?

I took my truck in to have the clutch repaired . The mech recommended that I also replace the rear oil seal ( that was not leaking but was old) AND I HAD IT REPLACED. After the repair i have been leaking oil all over my drive way.I have taken it back twice and now he says that he cant fix the leak and It is my crankshaft . how do I proceed?I have taken my truck in to replace my clutch. the mech suggested I replace my oil seal now my truck leaks ?
I had similar problems last summer and was glad I got my repairs covered under my extended warranty. extended warranties are less expensive if you don't buy them from the manufacturer. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-War鈥?/a>I have taken my truck in to replace my clutch. the mech suggested I replace my oil seal now my truck leaks ?
Rick the answer is slowly. the mechanic shop must make good regaurdless because of this fact, they recomended and sold you a replacement of the seal, they were bound at this time to deliver it without a leak from that seal and the mechanic doing the work should have examined the wear surface that the seal road on for grooves created from usage in which case he should have told you of the wear, either sugjested a speedy sleave be installed or replacing the part. is a worn part their fault? No but lack of examining it is especially when they sold you the seal to keep you from having a leak.
He should be repairing this at least the labor portion. You can get what are called Speedy sleeves to slide onto the crank to make a new sealing surface for the seal. Sounds like he is trying to cheat the repair by not removing the required parts to install the seal correctly. Talk to another shop or file a complaint with the gov..
Is it an older Ford? Some older fords had a pin that stuck up into the older seals and has to be removed for the new seals to work. I had my engine rebuilt (1967, Ford 302) and when I went to put it in it poured out oil. Took it back and the mechanic told me that was the problem. Take it for a second opinion and inform the first guy of it first telling him that if it is his fault, you expect to be reimbursed or you will sue him in small claims court. Good luck.

The other post has a good point, and to add to that,it can also have to do with positioning of the seal. If it is not in there squarely,it can also leak.

Where is the closest retail outlet for seal oil omega3 capsules in the toronto area?

when the motor gets hot smoke comse out fo the passenger side manifol like its stoped up or somethingI have an 1994 ford mustang with an oil leak rear seal i think i want to fix without wemoving the motor?
If the manifold is smoking it's not your rear main. More likely the valve cover on that side.

Can I put oil in a car after I have used block seal?

I just got my car back from the shop where they used block seal to fix my cracked block/head gasket problem. They were really guessing at the problem because they had no clue, but the oil was getting mixed with the coolant. Anyway after I got to driving the car I see that the oil light has flashed on, and I am wondering if it is okay to put oil in the car. I am so scared that I may mess something up if I do.Can I put oil in a car after I have used block seal?
block seal is not the proper fix to coolant in the oil. u are safe to change the oil. it is a good idea to do this because if coolant gets in the engine bearings like it allready is you will (not could) damage the engine. you need to get the problem looked at by a engine shop or a engine mechanic. coolant in the oil destroys the bearings in the engine. if u can i would not drive the car untill u get it looked at by someone that kows what they are looking for.Can I put oil in a car after I have used block seal?
Your screwed, take it to another shop that does not do that kind of poor repair work.

Definitely check the oil, oil pressure may be low due to coolant in the motor which may have gotten into the bearings and then it's time for a new engine.
if the oil light came on i would check the dipstick and see if you need oil. If oil is needed then add it...... or you will have a bigger problem on your hands .
